I was watching Montel once. This woman was on the show and telling about how she had such a hard pregnancy. I guess you're probably saying "What do you mean har? It's never been easy." During her pregnancy she was extremely sick-passing ou, vomiting, having exterme pain. She kept going to the doctor. They ran test after test on her and for a while did not know what was wrong. Finally, a doctor found the answer. She was allergic to the hormones her body produced during pregnancy. Now this is rare, but she was told she could make a choice have the baby or terminate the pregnancy. There was a chance that neither of them would survive. What would you do in a situation like this? Would you attempt to have another child if you made it through this pregnancy?

It's actually a condition that occurs more often in men - there are men who are allergic to testosterone. This results in the body shutting off testosterone flow and resulting in something akin to hermaphrodism. There are some famous cases on allergies to naturally produced hormones. It's rare, and much rarer in women.

With my son my blood pressure would drop so low I would faint. It was a very scary thing because I was always afraid one day I would faint & get abdominal trauma & my baby would get hurt.
With my daughter I had exteme morning sickness (hyperemesis) and had to go to the hospital every 2-3days for a couple bags of IV fluids b/c I couldn't even hold down WATER.
Now I'm pregnant again & just found out I need to have urgery b/c of a HUGE ovarian cyst. I am waiting until after I give birth to have my surgery.

This is something I've thought about - even though now I've decided not to have children. Pregnancy and giving birth could kill me, or at the very least paralyze me due to a spinal condition I suffer from. I'd terminate the pregnancy. I'd be risking my life and by extension the life of that child. The child itself would probably inherit other health problems I have. I wouldn't be physically able to care for the child if I survived the birth. And I would not try and have another child.
