Hi everyone!!
Do you have a credit card? Have you ever experienced anything bad with having that credit card?
I'm having a problem now coz' when I looked at my bill it has so much cash advance fees. I tried to have a one time cash advance using the credit card, but when I looked at my bill the total amount has been divided into 500s and a transaction fee of 300. The total amount cash advanced was 3000. so you can just imagine how much transaction fee it has. The amounts are in philippine peso. Don't you think this is a rip-off by the credit card company?

Yes. Credit cards are awful. Unless you can afford to pay them off in full at the end of the month. Otherwise the fees/interest keeps racking up. I'm in soo much debt and I hate it. Cash Advance fees are one of the highest there is.

Now that I know credit cards, I'd say they really are awful. Thanks for the input.

Cash advance fees are rediculous. I cant believe how expensive they are every time you do a cash advance.

The worst thing you can ever do with your credit card is take a cash advance on it. On mine my interest rate for regular purchases is 14.99% but for cash advances is it 26.99% plus there is a 3% transaction fee.
It does look like they tried to rip you off by dividing your withdrawal into smaller segments so they could charge flat fees or something for each part of it instead of a fee for the whole thing. Some credit companies have really bad policies and you should always read all the fine print and double check policies before taking a card or using it.
We learned the hard way. We were having trouble paying one of our cards and my husband talked to a service rep. He offered to give us a different account to consolidate some of our debt. It sounded good to my husband and he agreed. The guy said it would help us get out of debt quicker by only paying fees on one card instead of 2 or 3. In theory it was good, until I got the statement. The interest on the account was 27%. Our monthly payment was $400 but the interest for the first month was $350. So if we only paid the min. (which was all we could afford) we were only taking like $45-$50 off a month. It was crazy. I was outraged when I saw the statement.
We ended up transferring it all back to a different card that had a normal interest rate. They also charged us almost $500 in feed to move the amount to that account in the first place. They said it would help us get out of debt but what it did was put us about $1000 farther into debt in the first 2 months we had the account open.

Thanks for sharing. We really sometimes have to learn the hard way. As for me, I found it out when I got my statement of accounts and wow, I couldn't believe it! Imagine that kind of a rip off!! Thanks again for sharing. I hope others would learn from this.

yes we are in same situation.but then i have learn how to used it wisely and read all their conditions regarding fees, interest, late charges etc, so its not 100% banks fault.
its our fault that we cant manage the expenses from it:)

Yes I agree with you. In a way, a had a fault in not fully reading the small prints of their terms of service and charges. Thanks.

Credit cards have cash advances to make money off of you. Don't ever use it! That's how so many people end up in debt. I never use it and I have perfect credit! If you do use it, you should have already known there would be a high fee.

You have to be really careful when you open new accounts. Read all the terms and conditions because many times there will be hidden fees like this that you don't realize until it's too late. I suggest you do everything you can to pay this off as soon as you can and then don't get any more cash advances.

I had bad experiences as you did, take advance is not suggested for credit card, it isn't recommended.
I did once and finally i decided not take anymore, cos it very unfair, even they offer free charge in once time.
I refused it and i did endup my credit card two days ago.

I personally don't like credit cards. I abused them in the past. I only have a secured one now just in order to help rebuild my credit. I will need loans down the road. You sign a promisory note and they think you were lent money where no money was even lent to you. It's a scam.

We have credit cards and we use them for everyday purchaes like gas ,cigerettes, grocery shopping, and paying some bills. Then at the end of the month we pay the balance entirely. We never get cash back on our credit cards. This doesn ot work for everyone but it does work for us. The reason that we do it is to earn reward points and we either cash the reward points in and to earn airlines miles. We have another credit card that we use for emergncies only . We have had the card for 1 year and used it once. We have never been scammed or had a problm with the credit cards as of yet.

I have never experienced that with my credit cards. First of all, i always check the carrying costs to make a transaction. I belĂeve this is very important because you can not easily take it back once you have it. I would say also that one should be careful with foreigh exchange rates. Usually they are sticking to daily averages but i heard from my friends that some companies are using the higher rate. Better check before anything else.

ALWAYS READ THE FINE PRINT. THERE ARE ALWAYS HIDDEN FEES. NEXT TIME, MAKE SURE YOU ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE GETTING ANOTHER CARD.

Thanks, I'll do just that. But I wouldn't be seeing myself getting another credit card. I've learned my lesson.

I hate credit cards. I owe around $1,000 for my credit card. $500 in late/over the limit fees and $500 for my credit limit. It sucks, but that's what happens when you lose a job. But I'm going to go see a credit counselor sometime in the near future and get most of those fees reduced.
