If you were stranded in the mountains in the snow, what would you do?

I was watching the news or something and they were talking about that couple that got stranded in Oregon in the snow. The man was some big shot at CNet and he left and went to look for help but they cant find him now. The mother and two kids were found. She survived by breast feeding the kids and burnt the tires on the car to keep warm. I dont know what I would do!! If I was in a car, I would probably run it off and on until the gas ran out and then, like her, I would start burning stuff. As far as food, I would just scout nearby to find things that look edible. They said she ate berries. And most of all, I would just pray!

That is a terrible situtation that I hope to never be in. You do what you have to do. We are always traveling somewhere. I keep non perishable foods in a snack box in the car. I would do what you said and look nearby for anything to eat. I would find a way to build a fire to keep warm.

It's interesting you brought this up. I live in Southern Oregon about 60 miles or so south of where the woman was found. As of yet they haven't found the man. It is pretty sad. They are amazing survivalists though. It is really amazing that the three were found safe and well. The area they were in is very mountainous and forest land. It's pretty rugged. Back in February another family was lost in an area close to where these people were, they were fortunate enough to have a motor home and supplies. As for me, I don't know if I could do it. I would definitly be relying on prayer and God for my survival.

You need to be very enterprising and resourceful at times like this.. Very importantly you need to try and inform somebody about the situation. Then look out for food. If you could not contact anyone then maybe you will have to try and reach civilization yourself.
