I sometimes take tylenol because I think it is less harmful to the body than advil, but advil works better. You know, Excedrin is best, it has caffeine, that is why it works so well. Which one is less harmful, or does it matter if you only take it sometimes?

Have we gotten to the point where we can't come up with discussion and have to resort to talking headache's? I had a discussion on headaches as well. Well I get migraines every month for about three day's. Nothing helps but I take Motrin. I stay in my room, no noise and eyes closed, that kind of help's but in general, no, nothing helps.

Hey lovingit, I was not being rude. I have a similar discussion regarding migraines. Thanks for your tip and sorry if you think I was being rude, that was not my intention. I will still rate your reply.

My son-in-law who is a MD actually recommends Exedrin for a headache because of the caffeine. He says all of them have their own harmful effects and that none of them are that bad for you unless you take them in massive doses.

If you take to much Tylenol you can damage your liver. Ibuprofen is a good medication but if you take to much of it you could develop an ulcer or bleeding in your stomach and severe stomach pain. Excedrine has I believe aspirin and tylenol and caffeine. Caffeine makes the medicine work faster. The only thing I know about aspirin is not to give it to children and it has a tendency to thin the blood. I hope I have helped!

I've heard Advil is bad for your stomach, but taking it sometimes is good.

I am not sure about either of these, Advil is not available in Australia but as far as I know excedrin is not available here. I seldom take anything at all for a headache, instead preferring to lie somewhere quiet and if necessary in a darkened room. The occassional tablet should not be harmful and nor should there be any 'build up' in the system but if in any doubt then check with your Chemist/Pharmacist.

i had someone once tell me to take a very hot bath with lavendar oil. she said not the essence but the pure oil. i have not found any yet, but i am going to try it. she also said if i put a few drops on my puppy's head between his ears that it would calm her down, she is a very active and hyper puppy. lavendar is supposed to be calming thing. they say it is used by people that fly too.

The bad thing with the Excedrin with caffeine is that when you come down out of caffeine, you can get a rebound headache. Why do they put out medication that would cause a rebound headache. Ahhh, yes, to make you take more, right? LOL
But that does not mean I don't take it. ha ha
I just know (and I tell my daughter this too) that later I will have to take some Mortin to prevent the rebond headache. LOL But that just means more pills. ha ha

It has been found that over time ,aceitaminiphen (tylenol), has a tendency to build up in your kidney's ..there are other alternitives to over the counter pain medication..rub lavender and peppermint oil on your temples and at the base of your skull place a few drop of lavender on a tissue and enhale the aroma..this has worked for me many times..also has headed off migranes that my mother has suffered with for years! Also peppermint is a great oil for sore muscles and upset muscles.
