This comment is so true. Pop out a kid and the government will give you benefits, pop out another kid and the government will give you more benefits... so you are right! These people are getting paid by the government to have more children. Very Very sad as the amount that is given by the government is a far cry from what it cost to actually take care of a child...and chances are if these people are popping out babies to get a bigger check the money is not being used for what it was intended for in the first place...

I thought they put a limit on welfare? They would only pay you for one kid and any others you wouldn't get an increase on. Maybe that was just in Louisiana?

I think they tried to put this law into effect, however i do not think it lasted as you cannot punish the child for their parent's doing.

yes in Australia you get $4000 for having a baby and every person that has a child gets $600 per child once a year. i think that is wrong of the government to do this. i walk down the street and i have never seen so many young children pregnant. i think that an age should have been put on this money, say 18 and older. i have a 15 year old daughter and on of our relatives daughters is pregnant shes 15 years old. my daughter came up to me the other day and said "mum i think that is so wrong that the mother and the grandmother are proud of *jane being preganat, dont they want something better for her in life" i have never been so proud of my daughter then i was at that moment.
my daughter knows how hard we struggle to work and have the life style that we do, i know i dont have to worrie about this $4ooo tempting her into having a child.

Here in England you get a ‘baby bond’ and child support (dependant on wages) until the child is 18.

In australia when women give birth they are given $4000 for their child to fund its expenses etc. This does unfortunately encourage people who may be unfit to be parents just to have a child for the money.

actually i think that in some countries there is this rule. they give more money if u give birth to a child, and if u make 3 at once.. they give u a house. In my country the government start giving money to people that want to get married is not too much but it's a start so.. and i don't think will increase poorness or children on the streets.. because the government doesn't give u money anymore unless u take care of that child

The government already does that, it's called welfare and too many people abuse it as it is.

I think that would be the stupidest thing the government could do. There's enough people in this world and enough lazy people on welfare as it is. Could you imagine if this actually happened? it wouldn't be good.

hey you have asked a very interesting question. Yes this would surely increase the population. But the task that the government has to do is to decrease the population. So the goverment should start paying all those people money who have one or two kids only
