I have a 3 year old begal. We just got her from the pound about 3 mos ago.. Were really on the edge of giving her back, Because she won't stop going to the bath room in the house! we have cages so they get locked up at night and when were gone.. but even when were home she will still go to the bathroom.. Now i have another dog at home and she will tell us when she has to go but the begal won't.. What can i do to stop her instead of always telling her no and throwing her outside?

I can feel your frustration! We just got a golden retriever puppy and am trying to housetrain him. One thing that I read might be of help to you - make sure that you clean up her "accidents" really well. This is so there won't be a lingering smell that she can smell and think it is OK to go back to that same space. We are trying to take our puppy outside 15-30 minutes after he eats so he can get used to going outside. Hope this helps.

Thats a beagle for ya! My beagle is 1 and half and she still has an accident sometimes. They are very stubborn little dogs and need alot of attention. As soon as she eats or drinks send her outside, you have to be very patient almost like training a toddler. They wont tell you all the time when they have to go out so ask her if she needs to go out and wait for her response she will start to get excited than when she does her stuff outside give her a treat and let her know that was good. And since they have a keen sense of smell make sure when she has an accident that you clean the area with something to remove the smell cuz they seem to like to go in the same place all the time.

Thankz i've tried the whole treat thing with her too! but she won't take them! it's like the person who had her before scolded her when she was giving a treat, because she is very hestant about taking it, then when she does take it she drops it!

See i tried that too and she won't take it because i think that she thinks that jade (my other dog) will take it from her! so i tried with out jade there and she still wouldn't take it! like i went to the store and got them both bones.. i got jade her fav. (Rawhide) and i got dasiy a little bone that fit her perfect. but she wouldn't even take it she just sniffed it and then licked it and that was it! But it's gone know because since dasiy didn't eat it she did!

I find that my dog is fussy with the treats also you just have to try different ones and find one that she likes. Also if you have any other dogs try giving the other one a treat first than offer one to the beagle, they are piglets and will take the treat so the other dog can't have it, than she'll know that it is ok and she is not going to get trouble for taking the treat.

There are a couple of good websites that I found that might help you. Here they are: http://www.hsky.org/house-training-dog.html and also http://www.uwsp.edu/psych/dog/lib-SpecTrain.htm. See if those tips might help you. Good Luck.

Well the best way is when he has done take him to it and stick his nose in it and tell him no very firmly I know it sounds awful but that is what you are suppose to do to train a dod not to pooh

We did the whole stick their nose in it when my pit was a puppy and she's trained really well now! I won't do the paper idea because we did that when i had an irish setter and it's a bigger mess to clean up and it really makes your house start to smell!

the way i trained mine was to take her out every 15 minutes till she did something then praise the hell out of her. then next day take it out every 30 minutes or so. longer each day she can now go 8 hours if have to and doesn't go in house anymore... good luck.

wonders - seven of them
you have to take real good care, of what you are about to do. you just do what is right now telling her is the right way to go.
