Working at a restaurant - do you eat out more or less after working in food service?

I know that lots of times when people start working in a a restaurant they realize how crazy some of the people working in food service can be, and they don't want to go out to eat any more because they are scared that the food will not be safe. Then again, I wonder if this is just people who work at a fast food place or if people who work in upscale restaurants feel the same way? Let me know where you worked and whether it made you want to go out to eat more, less or made no difference!

I've worked in several different resteraunts and it didn't seem to affect me as far as wanting to go out to eat. I may not have wanted to go to the restaurant that I worked at. I usually got a free meal when I worked so I had enough of their food and wouldn't want to go there when I wasn't working.

When I worked in food service, I ate one meal per workday at work, and other than that, I ate at home! I knew some people who never cooked, always ate restaurant food, and others who wouldn't eat a bite of the food prepared by the restaurant, and brought their meals from home.

I have been in the restuarant business on and off for over 20 years and I always ate out less when I worked in the restuarants only because I was eating at the place I worked and just never went out to other places. Now that I do not work in the business I find myself eating out less and less. This is due to me getting sick a few times. I think the workers come to work sick and then giv etheir germs to the customers. The places I always worked were very clean and the health inspectors were very strict. The cleaning part is not the problem, the fact the workers must work sick to earn money is the problem

thanks - I agree that is a big problem. It happens in all types of workplaces, but in restaurants it's particularly problematic because you're not only risking the health of your co-workers, but also your customers. Some bosses encourage employees to work sick because they don't want to be understaffed, but they really need to encourage sick people to go home and take care of themselves!
