I really don't know how to sew, but I would definitely like to learn how if only I had the time. It would be nice to make your own clothes and choose your own fabric and style.

Making clothes is not my idea of fun. I do like to make things for the house such as pillows, quilts, curtains. Also I take old blue jeans and make purses out of them to sell at flea markets. Sewing is not that hard to learn, just start on something simple and cheap so if won't matter if you mess it up.

I have a sewing machine that I got from my father-in-law when he passed away. He sewed more then my husband's mother. Its a good thing to because she was a terrible sewer. Its not real hard. If you can guide some material thru the feed dog in a stright line you can sew. I have taught several people how.

I like to make quilts and clothing. I've only made ONE full size quilt that I actually pieced together, the rest of my quilts are really more like comforters. I made little lap blankets for Christmas presents for everyone in my family last year and let me tell you, it made me so happy to see them on chairs and stuff when I would visit! I'm not doing that this year, though - too expensive for the materials. A few people will get something I've sewn(one lap quilt, one fringed shawl, and a bingo bag), but I'm in a cooking mood this year so most are getting cookies and fudge and stuff.

Sewing quilts is my favorite. I usually give somebody I love a quilt every Christmas. I never keep them for myself. If I get lucky and do more than one I will sell it. I find scraps at yard sales and flea markets so I have an abundance. I don't throw them away so you might want to consider that for getting your fabric.

I am just learning how to sew (teaching myself). I like to make clothes for my kids, pillowcases for them, fabric bowls, and I also quilt. I've made a couple of quillows and also a quilt for my husband, one for my mother, and one for my father. All pretty simple designs, and I prefer to make wallhangings vs. larger quilts.
