Yes I played it with my PC (with GeForce 6600GT), and I finished almost all. I think I totally played about 200 hours! That's a very good game, and very very long. There are a lot of quests to complete, the graphics are fantastic, and it seldom bores. The sounds are very nice too. If you like the genre, it's a must. Try it.

If you have a supported video card, try these tips to make the game playable. http://www.tweakguides.com/Oblivion_1.html (Great tweaking guide made by Koroush Ghazi. A little out-dated, but still useful. Ignore his recommended mods, though. http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=10510 (This optimizes many of the default meshes used in game, increasing FPS without any noticeable loss to detail.) Also, this game requires a video card that supports Shader Model (SM) 2.0, but it is possible to play with a card that only uses SM 1.1 by downloading Oldblivion. This will make the game look like it's predecessor, Morrowind, but it will be playable. http://www.oldblivion.com/

I'm lucky to have a c2d 6600 with a 8800gts 320mb, I can run the game at near max settings and I must say it is a blasting experience to play the game. Especially with shivering isle, everything looks so beautiful that you'll forget that you are actually in a game. Battle wise, every battle seems like the last battle so you gotta put some wits into this game. However you can adjust the diffculty as you like. If your bored, just put it at the lowest difficulty and enjoy the feeling of being an invincible man.

Number 1, if elder scrolls is laggy just turn all the graphics and stuff all the way down. Sucky graphics = decent run speeds lol... I love elder scrolls, although im still very new. I like downloading the PC mods like houses and stuff.. Great fun.
