what am i doing wrong?

are people not answering my discussion topics coz a) they can't find them? b) they don't have anything to say on these topics? or c) nobody likes me LOL i see so many useless answers to people's discussions like 'no i don't know' or 'i don't like it'. people even seem to answer discussions that don't concern them. for example a discussion on baking, might have some responses like 'sorry i don't know how to cook', but someone is at least VIEWING the tpic in order to answer, whether it's a useful comment or not. in my case, i wonder if my topics are too obscure, or if i have just had the luck of nobody seeing my threads?

From what i've seen, if you topic requires more than 3 words and half a brain cell for reply, forget about it.

dang, so i guess i should start writing topics like 'which do you prefer, blue or green?' and 'do you wake up on the left or the right side of your bed?' ?? :) but that takes too much thinking to manoeuver! though you're probably right, AND what's the most hilarious is that this is the discussion that got the most responses so far, and all in under 10 minutes of the time i posted it!? hmm...someone hates me, you're right lol.

Make sure the Blue/Green and Left/Right Quetions are to different Discussions, making them the same one would scare everyone away. lol.

It's probably just a combination of what the first answerer said lol loved that one and so true :) And they seem to get lost after they're posted. I'm having a hard time tonight trying to find something to respond to. I usually look for ones that require some thought/time to answer, rather then the one word responses. Also, add some more friends to your gang. A good friend will go through the discussions my friends started link and respond to some of them. I do that and I know a few of my friends do as well.

I run into some of the same problems, and just have to assume that for some the topics are not relevant. The other thing I know is that if you do not get a response to a discussion, it gets shuffled even further to the back, and is even less likely to get a response. Since you asked about responses though, I thought I would make sure to at least put my 2 cents worth on this one. You are new, I believe things will get better for you. Request people to put you on their friends list, then they will view your posts, and maybe reply. I think that might be your first step to improve responses.

How can a topic not be relevent on a site about nothing in particular?

Just keep posting stuff like this. I found the more questions I ask the more friends that I get on my list. Just start asking people on here to be your friend.

I am new to this site too, and i believe i still need plenty of time to understand all of this. Friend, just kip on posting you see one day you could find the result you're waiting for. Don't you worry i'll see to it that i could post comments in every discussion you have post. Gudluck!

Actually you probably have very good topics and this is why you aren't getting responses. From what I've seen, people tend to go for the easy-to-answer questions because they don't want to take the time to actually think about their answer.

There are so many people on Mylot and often times the topics for discussion are repeated. Many people, myself included, grow tired of answering the same questions over and over again. Fresh topics bring better reponses.

that's what i've tried to do. for example, seeing that there was only one topic about tea (at the time), i posted 2 new discussions both somehow related to tea. the first one got about 3 responses, and the second one only 1 i believe.....and now there's all these other discussions about tea, so who would even look at mine, which is older therefore further back in the queue of hot topics :)

It might be sometimes they can't find your posts or they don't feel answering it. If I were you posts some topics that related to problems. I noticed to mylot members once if the topics are all about problems so many respondents posting.

I try to post on my friend's discussion, and I noticed that some of my friends are also my "frequent poster's". Don't worry sometimes it takes a while to get some post's. Try something controversial.

it looks like there are already enough people 'inventing' contreversial topics, i don't want to add to the heap lol. but what would be an original AND contreversial topic? 'post a picture of your boobs or your girlfriend's boobs, and in return i will post a pic of mine!' ? hey that gives me an idea lololol. thanks for your input tho' ;)

this is one thing that even have not been able to figure out, I have a few discussions which were responded to very well and there are others which have not received any responses at all. There's also some problems and Mylot, as the order in which the discussions featured on the discussions page sometimes doesn't change for many hours, and accordingly the discussions that featured on the first five or six pages receive responses beyond even 100 while the remaining remain nearly unresponded

Well, you could start with changing your profile pic to a chick in a bikini, then you could scream HELP! FIRE! I'm sure that will get a response.
@shmeedia (1044)

haha, maybe i'll try that :b but i noticed that even more effective than yelling 'help fire' is to yell 'help my mom was raped by my dog what should i do?' or 'help i have HIV and my dad wants to sell me on the black market'!!!! :) just kidding, though i wouldn't be surprised ;)

i'm not sure i understand what you mean, but i can say i don't make up fake discussions, actually the discussions i create never become 'discussions', just me asking a question and nobody answering ;) i think it's a matter of chance more than anything. look how many responses i already have on this topic? and i din't do anything differently :) so sometimes i'm lucky, but until now it's been difficult.

i guess so, because this thread is the perfect example of what you are saying haha. though i just wanted to say i wasn't really pointing at others about my 'problem'...just asking what other peoples' experiences have been and well, looks like i was not the only one with such issues! :)
