Have you been to Israel recently?

The last time I was in Israel was in 1999. I was wondering what it is like now and if it has changed a lot.
If you went recently, did you feel safe?
When I was there (all 3 times) I felt completely safe. I even traveled by myself some. I wonder if I would do the same now.

The last time I've been to Israel was in 1997, which doesn't seem like it was too long ago. However, it is ten years ago! Anyway, I did feel safe. It was a different time then, pre-9/11, and I was younger and most likely more naive. I did travel a little bit by myself and I would do the same now but I would think I would have a different definition of safety now as compared to then.

I went in december 05 and i felt extremely safe. I also went with a tour which was really cool. I highly recommend going back. I would go back anytime. Also I walked around some by myself, and i felt really safe.

I went to Israel in Nov of 05, and I felt completely safe. Maybe to safe since I actually rode the bus system..lol. I actually let more safe there than I do in the US sometimes. Seriously. Anyway, I would go again in a heartbeat. I loved the people, the scenery, and the food. To me it was my favorite place that I have ever been by far. I am part Jewish myself and would love to go back as many times as I can.

I've always thought I would like to visit Israel, but have not had the opportunity yet. You've been there three times! That is great. You must have had some reason. Safety must be a concern when traveling in the mid-east. I read of one man who give guided tours of Iraq and Iran. That would also be something to wonder at.

I went with my wife and 8 month old baby last spring (before the troubles with Hizbollah) and had a spledid time. My brother has lived in Israel for ten years or more and vows never to return to the UK to live, and I understand why now that I have been to his adopted home.
The people are friendly, cultured, easy-going and tolerant. The food is fresh, cheap and delicious. The ice cream in particular is a bit special! The country is beautiful with glorious weather nearly all the time. And best of all, there is a word in the Hebrew language for the cute, fat bits on baby's thighs! Life truly is sweet in Israel when they are left alone. It's just a shame about the neighbours.
