Today in Spokane, a 19 year old teenage is arrested for killing his parents in their home. The police investigated when his mom didn't show up for work. He killed them and then drove to school like nothing happened. WHat is this world coming to?????????

I don't know either. I have been at odds with my parents too, but would NEVER even consider talking bad to them, much less anything violent.

The thought that a child could be filled with such bitterness and anger that he would violently kill his partents is something incomprehensible. Then to drive to school like nothing had happened. The worst thing is now there will be some sort of defence on why this happened, how badly he was treated etc. Hey, if life was that tough at home, why didn't he just leave? No excuse whatsoever for this sort of thing, irrespective of what the perceived harm that has been done. I am not saying that this teenager was harmed by his parents, but that generally is part of the defence.

Irrespective of whether or not he had a mental illness, this is terrible. I think we can be fairly certain that this will be part of his defence, but hopefully they will still lock him up for a very long time. If he has a medical problem, then it should be dealt with and he should not be let loose on the streets.

medicated and restrained, this is how it should be done

well, he has mental problems, they should have been doing something to keep him on an even keel. Everyone thinks it won't happen to them, but they were kicking him out of the house, so he retaliated. I suppose they will use the mental illness as a defense.

I think a lot of it comes from where you can not check your kids nowadays. If yu hit them they can get the authorities on the parents and the parents are charged. The way I was raised I would never think of doing something like that. Parents are so easy on their kids now, when I was growing up the parents, the neighbor, anyone that say you doing wrong was able to disclipine a child and then when they got home the parents also got them.

Part of the problem today is that parents have no right to discipline their own child. Certainly in the past some parents went too far, but why throw out the baby with the bath water is what I am wondering.

This is where I live, where close enough to "claim" Spokane. Its a heart wrenching story. I can not believe how he killed them. It just is, well just doesn't seem real. *sighs* I am with you though, what is coming to this world?

May be you need to adopt the indian way of bringing up family and kids. There is alot of isolationin the kids that relates to such a huge issues and crime

I don't know your way of raising kids, but here in the USA, there is too much violence in the TV, Video games and such. Violence becomes an accepted way of life, so kids really don't know any better. They get angry and just react. It is hard, especially if they have no respect, another great problem with the new generation.

The video games ,ect... aren't the problem. The problem is we as parents and guardians don't teach our children how to take these things in retropect. The only thing that will stop this is to have a relationship with your child. Don't just be a parent, be a FRIEND!!

Hah.. another murder by the kid... One of the most factor I think is too much watch psycho film. So the kid sometimes will feel happy when see other people suffer and if it get worse.. he will happy to see blood.. even the blood of his parents...

I agree it is just an accepted part of society, then when kids act it out, people are surprised.

I also seen this on the news. Its odd but the kid doesnt look like a killer does he? His eyes looked to kind. Even the kids they talked to about him said they couldnt see him doing it. It is very sad what this world is comming too.

Wow, this seems to have become a common thing these days. I think a lot of teens suffer from anger or mental issues that go unnoticed and so they go over the edge and do crazy things; a sad story.

I think it is a combination of bad parenting and other things too. If he is bipolar, they should have been watching him and expecting the worst.

There is something definitely grabbing hold of the minds of our children these days..If you have ever taken a look at some of the video games they play or listened to the songs they listen to in their ipod you wouldnt be so surprised..They are bombarded by violence in varios electronical devices they use.

If you check news between 1950 and 2006, you will find out that history repeat itself. Way before video games, once a while things like this happen. First, kid was sick and needed help; second maybe was abused and got enough. WE DO NOT KNOW. Kid is sick and no question about it. Bipolar do not go extreme, maybe he was misdiagnosed.

That is just wrong. Usually this happens over stupid stuff like parents not buying the latest game system or whatever. We should learn to tell our children no and teach them how to accept that answer from a very early age.

kids are spoiled these days, they expect to have and do everything and parents let it happen. Probably out of guilt because they don't spend the time they need to with their kids.

probably nothing, the kid is bipolar, and they were kicking him out of the house because he is abusive. He stabbed his father multiple times and strangled his mother, then threw their bodies in the bucket of a tractor. Sicko

It does show creativity, but it's very unpolished. The fact that you wrote it and posted it on the web for the world to read tells me you're determined and willing to learn. With those qualities, you can make it as a professional. How good this is depends on how old you are. If you're 43, it's really bad. If you're 10, it's really good. Put you age in there and see where you fall on the scale. It also depends on who your audience is. If you're writing for children, this is OK. If you're writing for young adults or older, it not so good. A few things to keep in mind. Show don't tell. Don't just tell me Nickki is there, show me, with description, who she is and let me see the world through her eyes. Why is Kore beautiful? Draw a picture in my mind with words. All the information you provide a the beginning is too much to digest. Spread it out and introduce the people and information slowly. Draw your reader in. If I may, as an example, I rewrote the beginning so you can see what I mean. Use your talents and make the world a better place. -------------- Nikki woke up and stretched her stiff muscles. The sun had just come up over the hillside and brought to life the dazzling city of Kore. Even in the early morning light, the white palace walls, decorated with masterful tapestries and brilliant gem stones, was beautiful. Nikki rolled up her only blanket and small mat and placed it on the shelf. As usual, she was one of the first to wake up. She loved this part of the day, before all the work began, when she had a few moments to drink in the fresh morning air and feel its cool breeze on her face. For these few moments she felt free!!!
