"Nintendo DS" VS "Sony PSP"

I'm planning on getting the Nintendo DS lite for xmas. However, I was wondering if the PSP would be the better choice.
My reasons to get the DS Lite:
-You can close it(I would prolly scratch the PSP's screen on accident)
-It's the classic Nintendo(I'm a big fan and owner of a Nintendo'64)
-Touchable screens make it seem more interactive
-Cheaper price
My reasons to get the PSP:
-Bigger screen
-I own PS2 aswell
-It's more new(I think...)
-The games aren't as "kiddish" as DS Lite
Please help me in choosing!! Please dont just type: "OMFG DS Sux ballz!!!111" or anything like that. I ask for reasons.
ALSO: WHATS YOUR VIEW ON NINTENDOGS?

Go in for the PSP Sony is quite a reputable company when it comes down to gaming consoles..the PSP is new and has a fast processor a good graphics adapter and also getting games for a psp is very easy just download it from a website and pt in your memory stick you needn't buy UMD's they are very expensive

I think psp is a better choice for you my friend :)
If you take care on it, you won't scratch screen and it's more useful if you don't play with it you could use it for listening music or watching iflms if you want ;)
But of course it's a bit more expensive and not nintendo like.

I won the PSP from a contest. I didn't really like it. The internet was kind of cool, but very hard to use. It was a neat system, but I just didn't use it. Ended up selling it a few months ago.

The sony psp is better for multimedia because you can do just about everything on there including playing snes games on there at one point i had it on there but on the other hand the d/s is cheaper and has a nice selection of good playable games but the psp i think is better.

i have a ds. and i love it. i've heard lots of bad things about psp.like the battery life is really short.
I personally thought nintendogs is cute. my 6 year old loves playing with the dog.

i like the psp because you can buy the dvds to view in it. i feel that it is great for on the road. games have awesome picture and colour quality. i would advise a psp

The PSP is a generally better product. Everything about it is better quality, from the screen to the sound quality. The DS does have good points like some of the games are more unusual and the double screen is a bit different. The PSP is the better one to go for though because it makes a great movie viewer for long car trips etc. It depends how much you want to spend really. If you are interested in games like nintendogs, then I would suggest you buy the DS but if you actually want a serious portable gaming machine then get a PSP.

I've got the Nintendo DS (old design version) and it is a very great one !
If you intend to play with friends and/or your familly, it is the better choice ;)
My best games on it : Metroid Prime Hunter, Mario Kart DS, Dragon Ball Z, and Advance War (dual stike) !
Then, the PSP is more expansive but you can listen to the music and watch some movies.
(Be careful, memory cards are very expansive too !)
(And... I'll sell my DS, and I have a new white PSP (1Go) to sell too. If someones interresting xD)

I have both machines. I personally like the ds lite. It has more game selection, the games are inexpensive and psp breaks easy. Also you always have to wipe your finger prints off the psp cuz they collect very easily. The ds i love and will always love. but im really a nintendo type of chick :).
