yup i like alot....i have learnt too from tutors....
A piano or pianoforte is a musical instrument classified as a keyboard, percussion, or string instrument, depending on the system of classification used. The piano produces sound by striking steel strings with felt hammers that immediately rebound allowing the string to continue vibrating. These vibrations are transmitted through the bridges to the soundboard, which amplifies them.
The piano is widely used in western music for solo performance, chamber music, and accompaniment. It is also very popular as an aid to composing and rehearsal. Although not portable and often expensive, the piano's versatility and ubiquity has made it among the most familiar of musical instruments.

Now that I threw out my sheet music and learned to play just the chords with my left hand and the melody with my right, I'm enjoying it a lot more.
Note reading was hard enough, but when I had to start wearing glasses, it became even more frustrating, because as you know, every music book has different size notes (fonts) in it.
What I'd really like to do is learn and memorize maybe 10 or 12 favorite songs, so if I walk into a room and someone says, "Please play something," I'll be able to.

That's what I always say... I want to memorize a few songs, but then I never do! I am dependent on sheet music though I'd like to learn to play without it. I know most of the chords, but you really have to learn all the inversions and have a really good grasp of all the sharps and flats in each key.

I had piano lessons for 7 years. When I went to college I stopped playing and miss playing from time to time.
I'm not good at reading notes anymore and my fingers easily get tired when I play at home.

I used to play piano as a child. We received a piano for free at one time but when we moved we gave it away so now i have no piano. I would love to pick up where i left off and yes...i do like playing piano and listening to somebody else play as well.
Thanks for the topic.

Ilove the piano. i am self taught pretty much. i am actually a lead singer but when i needed a keybord player for my band i decided to attend lessons with him . After about two or three lesson on general scales and chords i let him go himself . then i obtained a piano for free and it is like my santuary.

I play the piano by ear. I don't read music, I just play what I hear. I have perfect pitch, so I can identify all the notes just by listening. My parents tried to get me to take lessons, but I prefered to do it my way.

I do. But I rarely have time to play anymore. I'm thinking about putting my keyboard at my girlfriend's house for awhile because I think she'll enjoy it much more than I do. I do have a large collection of sheet music though, and sometimes I'll just go to the keyboard and play for hours.
