I think it depends on the child. I think the parent should rent it and play it themselves first to see just how bad it may be. I honestly don't know if I would let my 9 yr old play a game of that rating.

It depends on the child. as a parent I would rent the game and play around with it for a while when your child is not around. If you feel you child can handle it go right ahead. Make sure you are open to communitcation. For example if it is violent it would be a good time to talk about violence and how sometimes it may be entertaining or tv or games it is something we would never try in real life. Also if you see your child change after playing the game. Mood, violence, ect take the game away. Every child is differnt and you know you child best. If you can not rent that particular game you can reserach it online and don't be afarid to ask the sales person. I used to sell video games and I wans honest with parents about what exactly was in them.

It also depends on why the game is rated M. Is it for violence or some other reason?

Probably not, but it depends how mature the child is. Parents should supervise.

maybe not, but it depends on the child, smart, responsible, mature above all...and it also depends on the game, read some reviews on the game, play a demo your self, if the worst thing is you can fall over and you bleed, then it should be ok right?

I agree with that completely.

That is a sticky question. There are a lot of rated M games that shouldn't be labled as such, but were because of when the game came out. My son enjoys Dungeon Siege 1 & 2. I think 1 is rated M and 2 is rated Teen (or the othe way around). My fiance & myself play this game and it has no reason for being rated M or Teen (you run around the forest killing monsters & completing tasks...the blood isn't even red). I see no problem with a 7 yr old playing a game like that. However, game like Grand Auto and such are banned for life in our house b/c they deserve their rating.

9 seems too young but there are a lot of games that I don't think deserve the M rating. I'd say it's up to parents to pre-screen any games before giving them to children.

I dont think video games have a big affect on the kids....and maybe if parents are affraid that they'r kids might turn out bad...then dont let them watch or play anything too violent.

Definately not. As it is too young an age besides there should be parental supervision.

I would not give my child video games, much less Mature or R rated Games. But, that is my opinion.

it all depends on why it is rated M .. i would check it out.. rent it first and play it myself and then decide.
