It drives me nuts when people feel the need to scream into their cell phones when theyre talking. I mean thanks for including me in yur conversation but i'm really not interested. What do you do when someone around you is doing that?

It depends on the situation and what they are doing. Sometimes I'll roll my eyes, sometimes I'll give the "shhh" signal but mostly I just ignore them.
I heard somewhere that they're re-installing all the phone booths that they removed. This time without phones. That way, people can have a private conversation on their cellphones and not annoy the people around them.

i find it horrible too!!
it happens especially in trains and buses, and it is difficult to do something.
i try to speak loud by myself, so that these people must leave if they want to go on with their conversation.
are there other ways to deal with this kind of people? i would really like to know

It looks as though this a disturbance to many. I myself will give a dirty look if the conversation is annoying me then I will tell the person to say hello for me. That usually let's them know that their conversation is not appreciated. I will even tell them I will save their space in line if that be the case as well. Do you step out of a line or to a more private area if you are speaking to someone?

ya i hate that as well. nowdays people end up speaking on speaker phone which is even more irritating. i guess no one calls them up and they want to show to the world when someone calls them

I absolutely hate when people do this! We had a lengthy discussion in my Communications seminar. I think the issue lies within the cell phone users knowledge of technology. The microphones on cell phones are a lot more sensitive and powerful than many people think, that is why you don't need to hold the receiver right under your face! But it is partially to blame on cellular phones being a new technology. The public and private spheres are coming together in a sense to create a new sphere where our lives are put out in the open for everyone to see (thanks to social networking websites), but that doesn't mean a loud cell phone talker should be shoving his life story down our throats! Search "Bus Uncle" in youtube and you'll see something great!
