Ok I work across the street from Oglivie Station in Chicago where someone shot and killed 3 people and himself and injured another. He actually got escorted up to the offices by the security guard...said he had a delivery...actually had an envelope with a hammer, revolver and knife smuggled in. Just goes to show, even with security guards these big city buildings are not safe.
On another note, if the shooter is so miserable and is going to kill himself anyway...why do they have to take innocent people with them? I just dont get it.
Oh yeah, one last thing....I dont think I will be going to their food court for lunch for awhile.,.....too nervous

I had heard the story on the news today on the radio at work. I don't know all of the details, but do you think that this person had a grudge against someone on the floor of the building. Normally, packages are not subject to inspection by building security, yet. So escorting the delivery person to the floor is not unusual. Yes, granted if the person just wanted to kill himself, he probably should have killed himself, but it seems he was out for a vendetta.

I know the news last night said he was not an employee but did seem to know the people in the office...and it was a law office so maybe he had a case with them.

Some people are so disturbed that they have to hurt someone else before they hurt themselves. There is no excuse for killing someone in that manner and I dont think there is an excuse for killing yourself either. But it happens and no matter if you agree or not it will continue to happen but I just hope these people find help before they hurt someone or hurt themselves.

I hadn't had a chance to watch the news yesterday when this happened but I have a friend that rides the "EL" everyday to and from work. He was the one that told me about it. I'm glad that he wasn't hurt when this happened. I don't blame you for being nervous. WE live in a very crazy city.

I read the story on cnn.com the day it happened. In the past things like that usually happened at the post office and then everyone would joke about postal employees going postal.....Is that where the term came from? Anyway I guess it would be hard for anyone to understand why he wanted to kill others and also himself. Too bad we cant communicate with those that no longer exist in physical form!

Wow, what a terrible thing to happen. There really are crazy people out there and you never know when you'll cross their paths.
Sorry you had a rotten day :)
