I am guilty of purchasing the above ( my favourite is Lonsdale :D ) I am just wondering how much people are willing to spend on second hand name brand items for children? Obviously it is much cheaper to purchase them second hand, whether off the internet at an online auction site like oztion or ebay, or at an op shop or garage sale. But do people still tend to go overboard and spend way too much? I am currently selling a babies jumper on ebay- secondhand- its tiny, size 0, and is HOLDEN. As such it is already selling for well over ten dollars?! :S I just went and bought my son a brand new out fit from target for 11 dollars- thats shirt, tshirt, and shorts. Why woud I spend more than that on one jumper- thats isnt even in season?! I suppose I should be happy that I'm making money from it, but it just makes you think the lengths people will go, and the prices people will pay to "look the part" so to speak, doesnt it? Do you purchase name brand clothing for your children? What is the most you have ever spent on it new or secondhand?

Well this is what I do, I refuse to pay the same amount in EBAY as I would pay for it at the store. I always includ shipping in the full price I pay...if my max bid is $35 dollars that means shipping is included in that amount. I love gymboree clothes for my kids so I check the site often. I check how much its going for on the gymboree.com and then look for it on ebay I tend to try and get at the very least $5 - $10 off the actual price of the item. I go there for deals! I dont care if it's name brand or not if it's been used I refuse to pay more than half of the actual price.

Thats great, I've recently started selling used childrens clothing on ebay and I try to take into account the total cost with postage. Thats why I start my auctions at like 99cents up to three dollars even when the item is worth well over thirty dollars, because by the time you include postage it leaves not much room for people to bid against one another and still get a bargain :D

YEah, I go back and forth with it all. I guess it really depends on what you are selling on ebay. The higher the item the more you pay...to them in fee's. I hate it...and then if they pay by paypal you are paying fee's again. Im on a mission to find a site that I can do auctions on and not pay so much in fee's.

Yes I do like to buy my children good clothes. I find that when I buy name brand clothes, they last longer, the material is better and it does not fade as fast. My son, I am ok with buying him used clothes and I usually get it on e-bay, but my daughter stopped growing now so I usually get her new clothes.

I would be more likely to spend more when my kids stop growing too. By then they will probably be asking for brand name clothing.

Well I don't have any children, but if I did I wouldn't buy them really expensive branded clothes, that there only going to grow out of! I'd just buy them nice clothes that I liked. Brand names really don't bother me in the slightest, I just have no intrest in them, why should they be so much more expensive then normal clothes? Burberry is the designer label I despise the most.

I would only buy a name brand item if its at a outlet store at stores such as TJ Max. I don't think it makes financial sense. The kid out grow it in no time. I would not buy secondhand clothes. It's just not for me.

Well am not married as of now, nor i have experience about kids but i can say this thing If you find something of the same price on ebay as well as in stores its better to go for stores, as seeing is believing You can bargain at stores too

I've never been big on brand names, not even for myself. Two of my three daughters tend to purchase brand names, but one shops more wisely than the other as she goes to outlet malls and sales, including Macy's. Though she also shops at Walmart, she says the quality of clothing on sale at Macy's is better. The other daughter thinks nothing of spending $50 on a sweater for my 2-year-old granddaughter, Alexandra. Ironically, she was here today saying that she is going to set up an eBay store called "Alexandra's Closet" to sell the baby's clothes... many of which are still new, with tags.

I don't usually buy my kids brand name clothing unless I see it at the second hand store. The way my kids grow they don't have a chance to wear out any thing. Most of the clothes that I buy from Walmart last just fine and are often passed on to a friend of mine. My kids don't care about brand names right now. We occasionally shop at a few more expensive stores, but I refuse to buy my 8 yr old daughter jeans that are $50 so she can rip the knees out of them. One item that we usually buy more expensive is their snow suits and mittens. It can get pretty cold here and some of the cheaper ones just are not as warm.

I don't have kids yet. I will buy them namebrand clothes, because I know I can resell them on Ebay.

i don't think i will ever buy second clothes for either myself or my children. as a gift from a friend, it's fine. but i don't like the idea of wearing something that has been used. =/

I bought my son an ecko red outfit the shorts were $15 and the shirt was $12. I don't mind spending a lot of money on clothing for my kids because it will be passed down to my youngest. I buy myself name brand stuff so what's good for me is good for them. I also shop at target and walmart. Just not as often as I buy stuff from the mall.

I don't worry about buying name brand clothing for my son. If I like the way it looks and it fits good I buy it for him. I don't think it's necessary for him to have name brand items. However his grandparents think other wise and constantly buy him outfits that are more expensive than most of my clothes. I guess I wouldn't mind buying it if it could be found cheaper on a auction site like you stated.

I buy my kids a lot of second hand clothes. They are as good as brand new clothes and half of the time the kids never know it.

I buy almost all of my children's clothes clearanced at Gymboree. When the stuff is on clearance it is basically the same price as buying at Target or Wal mart but better quality. I also list their outgrown Gymboree on ebay and use that money to buy most of their clothing.

I found that Target clothes worked just fine for my kids for everyday. After they were done with them, we sold them on consignment. My daughter, who buys expensive clothing for her kids, tried to take a tote full to a consignment store. They refused almost everything she took because of small stains. They wanted absolutely perfect clothing for resale, and that's seldom an option with babies and small children. So now she takes hers to the same consignment shop where I always took mine. They don't pay a whole lot for them, but we figure we're doing a good deed for people who can't afford very much for clothing for their children.

I could care less about the brand name stuff. As long as it's cute who cares. My daughters 6 months old, I know she doesn't care.

I usually buy my son's clothes at target. The only name brand clothes that I buy for him are Carter's and even then I wait until they are on sale.

I love brand name clothes because they tend to last longer than Target clothes they lose their shape. I hate that! I don't mind buying name brand clothes, but I try to buy them on sale unless they are very cute! I have 2 daughters, so I come across a lot of cute clothes in the GAP and Gymboree. But I won't pay the price unless it it beautiful. I don sel a lot of there clothes online like Ebay. Gymboree has great resale on their clothes. I have spent about $60 on one outfit. Hope this helps, April.
