Plastic Surgery or the Gym

Well first I want to know which you would do if you had an option. Second, I would like to know if you go the gym on a regular basis. Seems like America has the most amount of Obese people in the world. I think its funny how now in 2006, they are trying to reverse the direct effect of what they helped contribute to by allowing all of these fast food restaurants to remain in business....

i figured out, based on reading magazines and watching tv, that i realy need plastic surgery if i want to be lean as possible with tight skin. i've tried losing weight and thank God I shed around 30 lbs., but the folds of skin are still there. and no matter how try you exercise it wouldn't disappear. So if I had an option, i'd go for the surgey after dieting. It's not true that after you follow all those diet regimen that you'll have a perfect body.

The problem you have is 1. That you gained too much weight in the first place. and 2. You lost it too fast. If you lose weight in a small amount steadily over years, your skin can learn to reform. That is unless you are especially true of 1, in which case the skin can't reform back because it's been stretched too much. However, in that case, it's not cosmetic, as it's hard to live that way, so I wouldn't consider it vain or unnecessary.

I completely agree. It's best to do something yourself, then have a sense of accomplishment when you look the way you want to. And after all, surgery is an expensive, painful process that will take up time.

I would work out in a Gym to get myself as fit, and healthy as I could. Then if I wanted a little surgery I would go for it, but I would give a try keeping myself healthy and fit through the gym for awhile to build good habits, so if I did go for surgery latery I would not have to deal with that on top of trying to heal.... the type of surgery I would go for would not be plastic surgery thought it'd be a different type. - DNatureofDTrain

I would not do plastic surgery or lipo suction. Every time you have surgery of any sort it is bad for your body. I go to the gym at least three times a week. Most of the time seven. I have lost 22 pounds and my fiance has lost 100 pounds. People just want to take the easy way out - but nothing in life comes easy. You have to eat healthy and exercise regularly. I think it's hilarious how many people start going to the gym hard core around Thanksgiving. Then in January people with New Years resolutions go hot and heavy until February and I never see them again. Don't blame fast food people! You choose to eat or not eat fast food. Time to start taking responsibility for our own actions. I am by no means thin. I have another 30 pounds to go before I'm a "healthy" weight according to my doctor. But Lipo is not the answer and neither is stomach stapling.

Once there was a country where the men wanted their wives to be fat...this to them was a sign of their ability to provide for their families and increased their status in their communities.
Obesity is subjective it would appear.
Age, genetics, body type all have an influence upon weight. We are presented with a standard that most people can not compete with for beauty and for fitness.
I see all too often how it is said America has the largest obesity problem yet how many countries have a problem with their citzens presenting 'six packs'?
How can you blame fast food restaurants when it is the choice of each individual to frequent such establishments?
Our work places stress production not health of the employees. Both in
America and abroad.
There are a great many who frequent gyms, work out religiously yet still resort to cosmetic surgery. Some areas simply will not assume the shape desired, some actually need such surgery because skin has lost it's elasticity, some because of injury large or small.
A person doesn't really need a gym to build a fitness regimen. Weights can be anything, resistance training can be as complicated or as simple as one desires.
Leisure activities can be a fitness regimen. Try horseback riding, see how your legs and back feel after a couple hours, better yet wait until morning...especially if you are not a regular rider. Try a soft ball game, as a participant rather than as a specator. Hiking, rafting, climbing...it all works and it all can achieve the result one is looking for.
Cosmetic surgery as a short cut is a personal choice. Building muscle is too. Guess which one lasts longer.

HMMM.. who wants to get plastic surgery and get their fat sucked out? "OUCH" Then you need to spend another 3 months healing.. God that's a lot of you life is gone just for that simple solution short cut to lose weight. Short cut is not always good. If you really need to get fit, just go for a run and some exercise and that will get you fit in a year time. If you work hard everday and it will work. :)

Definitely the gym, I believe in natural beauty and the fact that if we want it we should work for it.... cosmetic surgery seems a little frightening and unnatural to me.
On the other hand, when obesity has reached the level where your health is at stake... removing the fat surgically, i.e. liposuction, might be a necessary option.
I do agree that our eating habits and lifestyle is getting more and more unhealthy. :-( you are right abt the flourishing fast food restaurant around us and the way our lifestyle make us go for convenience rather than healthy food.... we just need to remind ourselves what is more important sometimes...

I would prefer the natural way,but given the option I would go on surgery, it is the easiest way to lose weight but expensive.

Cosmetic Surgery is stupid and pointless. What's the point of looking a certain way if it's completely fake. I used to learn Martial Arts, which had a gym (or gym equipment), but I don't anymore, so I don't really use the gym at all. I always plan on it, but like most people, never get around to actually do it.

I am from the UK, and we have a growing obesity problem over here too - especially with younger kids - it seems fast food is taking over the world :(
I would prefer to work out myself. I eat healthily anyways, and I exercise at home (bike, rower, dumbells in a home gym) but if I were overweight I don't think liposuction or whatever would solve the problem long term - wouldn't you just gain it back if you didn't change your lifestyle?

i dont go to the gym, but i am trying to lose weight through a healthy diet. i dont think i would ever do plastic surgery to lose weight becasue it just seems like a lazy thing to do for me. im only a few pounds overweight, so i can easily take that off if i just work a bit. im sure the situation is different for people who are obese; however, i just dont understand how anyone can let themselves get to that point, unless it has to do with a medical problem. im a few pounds overweight, and that's as far as i ever want to get and as far as i will ever let myself get.

I'd chose to gym. Regular activity is good to loose weight and it's healthy. Surgery is not healthy. And after it, nobody can say that the weight stay like it's after it.
