at what age would you allow your little girl to wear heels? i've seen shoes with heels in department stores even for small kids, and i don't think it's appropriate for 5 year olds to be wearing them already. what do you think?

I have a niece who wore little wedge heels (silver glitter ones) to her 4th birthday party. Sure, she was cute with the heels and her little mini skirt, but I couldn't help to think that she was just imitating the Bratz dolls, which wasn't really a good thing in my opinion. I think little girls can be cute without dressing like adults.

oh, yes, i have to agree with your last line. girls can definitely look cute without dressing like adults. they'll be growing up right before our very eyes, so why rush, right? besides, i believe heels are not healthy for little kids. heels strain our feet; they could do worse on kids', what do you think?

I agree completely. I know how my feet feel at the end of the day when I have worn heels. Since a little girls' feet are still growing, it can't be good for them to wear heels and put their feet at such an unnatural angle.

My daughter Olivia Rose - This is a picture of Olivia, in Gulf Port, Mississippi exactly 1 year after hurricane Katrina. She was 1 1/2 years old.
Well, if my 5 year old was wearing heels, it would only be allowed for "dress up"! My daughter is only 2 and I probably won't let her wear them until she is 13, (and only for special occassions), and then maybe at 16 she could wear them as long as she don't looks classy not trashy! Good discussion! Have a great day!

thank you, Stephanie! i really appreciate your comment. i just feel so weird seeing little girls wearing heels, you know. one time, i was in a department store, and there was this little girl of 8 years old, all dolled up, wearing a pair of heels, and she even had lipgloss on. i think that's rather a very young age to start looking like a grown up, don't you think?

I dont really think that little girls should be wearing high heels cos for me they really need to enjoy their childhood years wearing some kiddie stuff cos they pass this stage once and would be nice for them to have a good childish memories with them when they grow up. Yeah, kids really grow very fast so i think no need to rush on things for them.

I wouldn't let my my kids{girls} wear heels until they are atleast 16 {ie if they are obedient to me} Because reseach says that the growth of a height is curbed because of heels!

thanks for the info. in that case, no heels until they're about 18 or so when the bones stop growing.
