So I am going to admit, I have a horse obsession. I am absolutely fascinated with these magnificent creatures. I am majoring in Equine Industry so that I can trun this obsession into a career, but why is it so easy to fall in love with these animals? What I have noticed is that you either love 'em or you don't care for 'em much. There really is very little grey area in the matter.
Let me share a story with you about my obsession. It was/is with a quarter horse named Roni. His show name is Willy Wonka, but he is a red roan and everyone kows him by Roni. He is the sweetest thing in the world and has an enourmous heart. His only problem is that he has awful hoof problems, and actually had recently been retired at a meer 7 years of age. It's really sad and I haven't seen him in a while, but there was just a connection between the two of us that I absolutley treasured.
Share with me your obsession and stories about your horses and connections! I love hearing about these amazing creatures.

Well, not an obsession, and no stories yet :) When I was younger, I'd always wanted a horse. Such a beautiful animal. Now that I'm older, I still wanted one. Started talking to one of my bosses that had one. Glad I did. Realized how expensive they can be-mostly vet bills. And down where we used to live, Florida, I guess they had lots of problems with colic and such because of the sand under the grass. Now, my fiancee's grandparents want us to take their horse(my fiancee's mom's horse really, but she doesn't do anything with him)because he has a constant cough. Vet said the horse needs to get away from the Florida hudmidity/climate. So, they offered to pitch in and help out a lot with the feed, hay, vet bills, everything. So, looks like we're getting our first horse :) Kinda excited about it, but kinda dreading it because I'm just thinking of the extra work involved. Kids will love him though.

ya, a horse is a lot of work, but worth it really. We've sent a horse to maine because he was allergic to the heat and got rashes over his neck in the summer. The vet bills can be expensive, but if you care for the horse there should be few vet bills. Of course there are those occasions when the bills are ridiculous (roni is an example), but for the most part they honestly are just like checkups of pets.

I love them too, I must have an obsession, because I have 1 stallion, 2 colts, 3 mares and 2 fillies. They are appaloosa's and one is a thoroughbred. The TB is not quiet the right horse to have here, becuase it is very tough here out in the african bush, they do have stables but they roam on a 50 hectare farm.
My stallion's sire is from america. Great to meet another horse crazy person.

I don't have a story to share, sorry. But, I will tell you that I can relate to how you feel. I have loved them my whole life. When I was a child, my dad told me that I would have to marry a man that had horses to keep me happy:) Well, I didn't, but, I bought a home out in horse country, so that they are all around me. Also, wild horse roam out here, and it is awesome. I think that they are smart, gentle, graceful, and gallent. I love all the breeds. I am a scissor cutting rare artist. I love to cut them out also. Check my website: www.mgcreativearts.com Look under silhouettes and animals. I do a cutting on video on the home page. It's interesting to watch, if you have never heard of this since it is a lost art.

ya the falling off part can scare you away, but to me that's the challenge of the riding. Not falling off the next time. Of course there are moments that when the horse wants you off, you will be off, but for the most part, its laerning to stay on.

I think many people would describe me as being obsessed over horses. I am also going to college for horses. What school are you attending? I train horses and have gotten plenty of bangs and bruises. My worst would still be getting kicked in the knee while on a trail ride- the knee to this day will still bother me every now and then. But, I still own the horse that kicked me and now show her at lots of shows heh

i like horses too, but now i will not ride again because, i once broke my legs and still suffering from that accident, now i can walk and do everything with my legs but it didn't return to normal shape, but i still adore horses. i run away before when i was teenager with my 11 cousin and go riding in the forest when i got the accident, i just regret when i fall into the big rock but the pleasure of riding the horses is magnificent.

I am obsessed with horses. I see every horse show/movie there is to see. Unfortunately I don't have a horse and never have. I just don't have the money it would take to care for one properly. I hope someday to get one. For now I look at www.dreamhorse.com everyday and wish I had one.

I love my horses too. It is a true passion, that's for sure. They are magnificent - beauty and grace in motion. Horses can be a tough business to make money in. I do wish you all the success though!

My favorite horse that I have had is a quarter horse. He is now 28 years old and he was the best horse. I could ride him without a bridle, saddle, and he would follow me anywhere. He was the best horse. He would eat chips, cookies and he loved coke. He is retired at my moms house and is living a great life.

I just got back from taking my daughter to horse back riding lessons. She has an obsession with horses. She would ride every day if I could afford it. She rides english and does dressage. Not sure if I spelled that right. I used to ride along time ago. I love to go into the barn while I am waiting for her and look at all the horses. They have a stallion barn there as they breed horses. I love that barn because the stallion is such a magacifant creature.
