Do you think that if everyone had a gun then crime rates would go down?

My husband has a rifle and a handgun and I hate having them around the house. We have kids and even though he doesn't keep them loaded and they're old enough to know better, I'm afraid they'll get ahold of them sometime.

gun locks on gun - useful if they come off easily enough for home defense.
That is a legitimate concern and one I hope you never experience. However with proper training they could be a great tool if ever you really need one.

I think everyone who is of age and sound mind should be armed. I was just saying this in another thread, actually. If all honest citizens are armed, who is going to take the chance in robbing or doing other harm? Very few, I'd bet. I do hear that very same philosophy is currently used and has been successful in lowering the crime rate in the Netherlands. Good discussion.

I don't own one, but wish I did. I don't think it would make the crime rates go up or down.
