My baby is teething. This is causing him to poop about 12 times a day. He is getting really bad diaper rash despite the fact that we are washing with water after every poop, blotting dry, airing out, and applying butt cream. Any ideas on what to do next? It isn't clearing up and he just keeps pooping.

I didn't know that teething will cause 12 poopings a day. My paediatrician will not see this as normal too. You sure you're not consulting a paeds for this? Anyway, I believe in using diluted potassium permanganate available at pharmacy to spray and cleanse the affected area during nappy change. It's a type of sterile to kill germs.

U can use cloth nappies..They are much softer and good for baby's back..I use them for my 10 mnth old son...and also keep applying the rash cream...

Our daughter had a problem with that. We found hers would clear up if we bought diapers a size bigger than what she was wearing. I think they allowed more air to get in to help keep her dry.

Take care of the teething first. You can put a teething ring in the freezer and when it is really cold have the baby chew on it.As far as the diapers and a rash this should ease up all the pooping and you can use desonide cream for the rash.

b/c you can't run to the pediatrician ever time you need to clear something up like diaper rash. Besides, if every worried mother did that, they wouldn't have enough pediatricians to take care of the sickest children. Plus you risk more taking your kids to the doctor's for every worry, b/c they could be exposed to sick kids with the flu, colds, etc.

To get rid of diaper rash, gently wash the bottom with plain water and then blow dry the bottom with a hair dryer set on LOW every single time the diaper is changed. This usually clears it in a day or two - even the really bad rash that bleeds. This ALWAYS worked for my 10 cousin kids Just make SURE that you don't get too close with the hair dryer! Keep it on LOW and constantly moving and just long enough to dry the skin, which should only take about 30 seconds.or u can put a tablespoon of white vinegar into about 2 cups of warm water. Dip a rag into the water, squeeze it out, and dab it onto the diaper area do this after each diaper change. The only warning is if the diaper rash is bleeding or there is sores DO NOT use it will burn the child.
