Can you go into the bathroom without being bothered?

I seem to be an electronic magnet to the point of walking through the bathroom door flips the switch to on!
I will get constant traffic coming. Someone knocks asking to come in, my 5 year old just barges in on me, if I lock the door I get a little hand coming through the crack at the bottom of the door or asked what I am doing, and I even get a paw or two scratching at the door wanting to be let in!
Do you have anyone bothering you when you go ino the bathroom? Who?

Oh my goodness, do I ever! Our house is in the midst of a 4-1/2 year remodeling project (it was supposed to be done in 3 months) and to make a really long story short ...
Our master bathroom is the only bathroom that we use right now and it does't have a lock on the door. It also doesn't have trim around the door which allows toddlers to peak in and ask what I'm doing when I'm on the potty. I also get asked quite frequently, "You pooping, Mama?"
From time to time I'll have a baby sneak in and pull himself up on the toilet and even put his frosty little hand on my bare hip ... that's enough to make you shoot off the toilet!

hahahahahahaha
I get those questions too. And I have had frosty hands touch me when they were little too. Makes you just want to say, nevermind...I'll hold it until you nap. LOL

OMG. My kids seem to know when I am in there, from miles away. I turn on the water to take a shower, and my 3 yr old runs up the stairs from watching a movie.. he says "OH! Mommy taking a shower!" Then my daughter (who is 4 1/2) always knocks on the door and says she has to go potty. She also seems to have to go every time I say that I have to go. What the heck?!

My son does the same thing. As soon as the water is turned on, he comes a running!
He seems to think that if someone is taking a shower or bath, he should be allowed in. And if you refuse him, the only way to appease him is by telling him that he can take a bath or shower next. Then he is sitting there waiting for you to get out so he can get in! Well...at least he doesn't have a problem taking a bath! :)

I don't now, as I am older. But when I was young, I was in the same delema as you. Did you notice when you get on the phone, the same thing happens. I guess the family just wants the security of your presents.

I have a 2 year old at home so of course not. He takes pleasure in waiting until someone goes to the bathroom and to come in and either flush constantly or try to wipe everyone. I am not kidding lol it is not always funny as you would imagine.

If it's not my S/O following me in, it's my cat Charlie sitting on my lap! Privacy is a 4-letter word!

Privacy in the bathroom? Please we have too many cats for that. They seem to take turns for wanting love when ever someone sits on the toilet. They will push the door open on you and then come in and bug you till you pet them. I gave up on being alone in there.

I had a cat that did that. Just what I wanted, a kitty rubbing up against my legs when I try to pee! LOL

Reason number 634 for not having cats ... they think they need love when you need to relieve yourself.

Tell me about it. Although some of them can be very lovig at that time. Still not what I want to deal with usually. Of course a couple of our cats have slept in the sink in there.

All.....the.....time. LOL Our litter box is in the bothroom and If I dont latch the door one or both of the cats will be pocking a paw in to get my attention. My 2 yr old will just open and walk in and leave the door wide open. After school my other 2 HAVE to show me there school work while I am on the potty, they cant wait till I am done.
I guess that is the point. No matter rwhat mommy does not even get a minute to go pee.

My grandson has to visit me everytime I go to the bathroom. He knows where I am, but will trot down the hall and open the door and start talking. Then he will turn his back and say, sorry Oma, but I just wanted to say hi.
If it is not my grandson checking in on me, it is the cat. Itty will pounce on the door and come sit at my feet. I thought that once the kids moved out that I would have more privacy in the potty. Guess I was mistaken!

That happens to me all the time too. Our cat likes to use the bathroom when someone else is there and my daughter won't let me do anything unless I take her with me. So I just leave the bathroom door open when I'm in there, so that anyone that wants to come in, can.

I have the same problem. With 2 daughters, a boyfriend and lots of friends of my daughters, there is always someone wanting the bathroom. I was home alone on the weekend and the dog didn't want to be left alone apparently and scratched to get in. My mother always warned me about it!

ha ha, I don't really have a problem with it yet, it does come up though. We only have one bathroom in the house, so there have been instances where I will be in there, and our boy comes and knocks on the door.
"Dad I have to go to the bathroom."
"Can it wait?"
"I have to go poop."
"Okay hang on."
Ah kids... I wish the boy would learn that he can go before he reaches the breaking point. But he waits until the last minute before he goes.

We have 3 bathrooms and I still have to go through it too!
It gets to the point I have to tell one child to use the bathroom downstairs, another to use the one in the hall, and the last I am telling I will be right out.
What is it about them all needing to use the potty at the same time?
And the one that has to either go up or down the stairs over-reacts as if he/she will not make it. LOL

Why is it that they don't realize that they have to go until someone else is already going? Then you have to make that split second decision ... can I stop? Can they wait? Is this going to result in a huge disgusting mess for all involved? Who's going to clean it up? Endless possibilities ...

The story is same everywhere . My children have a preference to the bath rooms that is attched to our bed room and though they are old enough not to disturb me,never forget to makes enough noise outside to irritate you and make you come out.

When I had my cats I had to leave the door open or there would be a little scrit, scratching at the door and the most pathetic sounding little miaow ..
Sadly I no longer have the cats to think about ,, so I am completely on my own .. but I am so used to having to leave the door open a little that I still do it .. how daft is that .. but it just doesn't feel right to have the door fully closed hahaha!!

ha-ha lol
happens in my home too. I go to the bathroom I have a seven year old, a 3 year old and a dog follow me and wander in. Sometimes my partner will even do it and occasionally the cat. I rarely get to pee in peace lol. I push them out and shut the door - sometimes it works but they don't go away.
Occasionally I have a bit of a paddy at them if they do it when I'm in the shower and then the parade waits in my bedroom for me.
You have to remember they do it because you are the leader of their pack and they love you even tho' it's really annoying.

Leader of the pack, ha ha. That is a great way to look at it! Thank you for sharing. :)
I don't always get annoyed. I often enjoy the company when I am in the shower and they are talking to me about school or work. But there are others times that I would like some privacy. LOL
Again, thank you for sharing your wonderful point of view.

People GET to go to the bathroom alone??? Where?? I have that problem too. Every single time I go in there, for anything, my kids have to go potty, or they want to brush their teeth, or they want to know what I am doing, or they just stand in the doorway. Forget locking the door lol. They just keep knocking, very softly, until I answer them. I think we gave up bathroom privacy when we had kids :)

But yours knock lightly until you answer?
Wow! My youngest will knock lightly and then to begin to get louder if I try to ignore him. And if that doesn't work, he will tell me that he knows I am in there! LOL

its seems from your discussion taht you are the most importantb person in your house maybe that is why you feel that.in my case no one disturbs me while at the bathroom.

Your very right. I could look at it as if I am thought as the most important person. But I am also the one that is ALWAYS here. You would think that they would follow their dad because they don't see him as often.

We have three bathrooms, and still everyone has to try to use the one that I happen to be in! To add to that, the dog has to wait outsied the as if I'm never coming back, and if i'm in the masterbath the friggin cats are whining and moaning outside like I'm doing something wrong in there.

Never a problem in our house.
Nobody bothers to close the door most of the time let alone lock it!

It was like tht when I was a teen living with my mother too.
Nobody had a problem with wanting privacy. But my mother had two girls. I, however, have 3 girls and 4 boys. I don't want the boys to follow me to the pee room.
