You can then rent out your place instead of keeping it idle. I live in a rented place and I pay $250 per month.

I have my own bungalow and have had for 11 years now and I love it. It's very caring of you to stay with your parents.

Thanks. But its a two way system. I stay with them cos they'd be alone if I leave. They also help me look after my two kids.

I agree there can be such difficulties. When you feel that you want to move, you have to otherwise you will be depressed all the time.

We very difficultly, moved to our house yesterday. Now my family is living separately in our house. Everybody says that we have to be separated to become a real family. But i provide food for my parents and they are all the time with us looking after my kids and all. So its a matter of sleeping in two houses only (LOL)

Cool. As I told you, I am with my parents. So we have altogether 6 people living in there. Myself, my hubby, my son and daughter plus my parents. Though its a small house, it has 4 small bed rooms. One for my parents, one for my son, one for me, hubby and daughter and one for visitors. Not bad isnt it.

Its not the size of a house that makes it a home, its the unity of the family who are living in it. So, size doesnt matter.

We used to have our own home when we our farm, but that was sold along with the farm. Now we live a sort of nomadic lifestyle, but our base is where our son used to live. He worked for a family who owned several farms for a few years, and had a house provided for him. When he went overseas the first time, they told him he could leave all his things here rather than put them into storage which was very good. Since that time we wander back to it every so often, sometimes staying for a day or so and other times for a couple of months. It all depends on what else is happening in our lives at the time, and whether or not our son is temporarily home to earn some more money. He does that every couple of years, i.e. comes home for a few months and works hard then wanders off again to somewhere new in the world. :) So, no we don't have a house that we own right now but one day it will happen again. It is good that you can live with your parents, as you know they can be trusted to look after your children Sherine and at the same time you can keep an eye on them. I do hope that you have managed to get those awful tenants out of your house by now, and have some decent ones in there instead. At least you do need someone there who will actually pay the rent, so that you can make the mortgage without having to scrimp and scrape for it.

Ha, you can remember them. Their period ends only on 30th June ossie, so we have to put up with them until that time. They are awful awful kind of people and i have never come across such in my whole life. Anyway, i will be with my parents for some more time ossie, cos, my elder bro doesnt want me to leave. He is working in italy and his family is living upstairs. He hates when i tell him that i have to be my own one day. So, until he comes back for good, i might have to be here. Our lives are simple and going on day-to-day basis. We are settled even with a huge mortgage. I thank God all the time for giving me such a good bro and parents who care.

We are currently buying a Condo which my husband bought before I married him in 1999. It is only a Small Condo, but it suits us just fine. I do not miss Renting or having to live with someone else, but for some it works out better.

Size doesnt matter, luxuries doesnt matter. What only matters is that you are happy and contented there. That's all.

We own our home. Its really odd how sentimenal I am about it. It isn't a fancy house or anything but it is ours to do as we see fit with. I transplanted the flowers in the yard from my Grandmothers. Great question. Hope your situation works out for the best :)

Thanks for responding. Now we are so adjusted to the situation, even my kids dont want to be separated from their grand parents. My hubby treats my parents as his own so I dont have any problems. This is a beautiful life !! Actually a house doesnt have to be fancy. It only has to be a place where you feel most comfortable. Good luck and have a great day.

Very good for you. I dont get what you mean by old. So, since the house was old, you sold it and bought a new house is it? Anyway, happy you like the new house better than the old one. Good luck.

Hi. When my children were teenagers I always had someone teen living with us. Then when we had two of our grandchildren and my husband's son living with us, there was five in our home. Now there are just the two of us living in our home. Maybe someday my father will come to live with us, but for now he wants to stay in his own home.

Do I take it you are a primary carer for older parents? That must be a very difficult role to have to perform. Currently I'm in a mortgaged property but I hope to pay off the mortgage in 6 years then it will be all mine (well, its has a 898year lease left but I'm not too worried about that!) Ultimatley though I want to buy some land, plant lots of trees and build an eco-house, but that is a litle bit of a pipe dream for me, I can imagine in time my mother in law will need to move in with us as she gets older, and that may change everything.

But they are quite healthy and help me in looking after my Children. I dont get 898 year lease part. In my country 99 year lease is there but 898 years? Its a very good motive to have a eco house. I wish you'd realize your dream even with your mom-in-law is there with you.

My husband and I have owned a home since 1977, but not the same one. We traded our first little house for a bigger one when our daughter was born. We lived in that house for 20 years and raised both children there. Then, with the town overrun with illegals, we made the painful decision to leave. We moved 800 miles away and into the largest house we'd ever owned. When we decided to move back to our home state, we built a much smaller house than we've ever had just so we don't have the upkeep as we're getting older. Funny thing is that this little house cost as much as the first 3 put together!

It happens. Cost of living goes up every second. How did you manage your jobs when you moved 800 miles? We can imagine moving from the commercial city cos both of us work here and schools. I hate the city but I have nothing else to do.
