hey can u try this one... X,during one of his rambles, chanced to come upon a man digging a deep hole. "Good morning," he said. "How deep is that hole?" "Guess," replied the labourer. "My height is exactly 5'10"." "How much deeper are you going?" said X. "I am going twice as deep," was the answer, "and then my head will be twice as far below ground as it is now above ground." X now asks if you could tell how deep that hole would be when finished.

Now I'm not the worlds best mathematitian, but unless the stationery sales person was also his own customer then he has just lost himself $1,000. See my previous post. If you don't agree then I would suggest you don't set up in business unless you want to go bankcrupt very quickly.

It is easier to think of it this way. The canteen boy did not give the stationery shop man anything. He gave change for $500 and got back $500. So the transaction with the canteen boy is now nil. The customer did not give the stationery shop man anything. The $500 is a dud and its value is nothing. But the stationery shop gave the customer, a pen worth $132 and $368 good money as change. That means the shop man geve $500 for nothing. So the loss is $500.

$1,000, - 500 to canteen boy, 132 for pen and 368 change to customer

Nope, not forgotten about it, it was a fake and therefore worthless. Suggest you know the solution yourself before you post the question!!
