Since yesterday I have been posting replies but my points keep dropping I've lost over thirty points, is that normal, Is it happening to anyone else out there, I can't figure out why they keep taking my points away. I don't think I'm posting anything negative to offend anyone. 12.12.06

Well I lost 1 point after a response but I gained it back in a minute without doing anything. I've lost points earlier too, though. I think it happens when myLot upgrades their system.
Also, if you take a look at this post, you'll notice that the guy posted a picture of a monkey ... completely irrelevant to the discussion. The girl posted a message saying, "That's a very nice pic." Also completely irrelevant to the discussion on hand.
It's clearly an attempt to simply add images and posts in order to make more money. Perhaps this is why myLot is reducing points. Perhaps they feel that certain users are posting irrelevant images and posts. I remember by points reducing a couple of days after I posted some images in order to try and earn more. It happened on more than just one occassion too. I stopped uploading images thereafter.
It's not just pics, though. I think myLot's trying to track down people who post comments that are irrelevant or simply an attempt to increase earnings. It might seem a little unfair, considering it's the reason why most people are posting so much on the site anyway, but I guess they have to do something about quality control and senseless posts. The monkey pic and appreciation, though not senseless, were a little out of place in this discussion. Maybe myLot doesn't appreciate the cute primates and sees it as an attempt to increase our earnings by posting irrelevant content.
However, irrelevant posting shouldn't DECREASE the user's ratings. It's all right to NOT increase them, but decreasing them is silly. Perhaps it all happens with retrospective effect.
The only way we'll know for sure is when somebody figures out the algorithm they use. And I doubt that'll happen anytime soon.

Yeah me too having the same thing happended to me and it was since yesterday too....when I responses to those discussions I start previously I notice that my points/ratings keep on droping.....I lost more than 30 points within half an hours:( I don't think we do anything wrong as am now actually reduce lost of those simple discussions and most of my responses were to friends's discussions and the none of it was one liner or something thats meaningless....I meant jst for responses to gain my rating...I think maybe mylot did some changes on the posts and responses system and hopefully they will announce it soon....

You are very lucky buddy. Yesterday I lost 9 points in three sessions three in each. What is happening here I don’t know even I didn’t violate the rules of forum.

Its the number next to your name, typically it goes up by a point every time you post to a new discussion, but lost of us have noticed sudden drops. They do take points off for answers that break the rules, but in the majority of reported cases today it seems that people have had mystery drops where they know thay havent done anything wrong, so its a bit perplexing.
Hopefully its just a glitch and it will sort itself out in due course.

It does seem that a lot of people have dropped in their ratings at present. This happened to me today and also in the past, but when I queried myLot I was told that some discussions had been deleted because they contributed nothing to the myLot community. That means that anyone who responded to those discussions would lose points. Also I had several instances where someone did a cut and paste response to my discussions, and these were reported to myLot. So, when they were deleted that again meant a drop in rating unfortunately.
BUT there is a positive side to all of this. I also see that as well as my ratings taking a "nose-dive", my earnings for last month increased. The increase has happened since the end of the month too, because when myLot deletes these discussions and perhaps cancels membership of the offenders the money that was earned is divided up amongst the rest of the members.

Oh and we should still report those who infringe the rules, i.e. inappropriate responses, "cut and paste" responses or discussions etc. MyLot will only stay a good forum if everyone abides by the rules and nobody cheats on the system.
It might affect our rating but it will also increase our earnings in the long run.

Its all about which topics you are selecting and what are you posting. It has happened to me too.

I think there are a few glitches with their system if you ask me. I have posted numerous responses to discussions only to have them get lost somewhere. From now on when I reply to a post I copy what my response is so that I won't waste time re-entering it. I can just try to do it again and paste the response.

It could also be that people are delibarately rating your posts as negative, Im thinking that this could also cause your points to drop, as the algorytm will probably automatically screen for this. I hope its not deliberate, otherwise this could cause havoc on MyLot, and I dont think there is a way to check this!

Now that certainly is something to worry about. When someone is reported for not abiding by the guidelines, they could try to get revenge by passing out negative comments. You brought up a very good point.

I would say it's about time that mylot starts explaining to people what's going on. My rating just keeps dropping no matter how many posts I do.
I've heard via the grapevine that mylot is eliminating bad topics and the responses that go with them. Anyone who has been on mylot a couple of months or more knows that back then there were a TON of bad categories posted. Our instructions were to post to discussions, and that's what I did, even though I considered some of the topics stupid. There was nothing telling me that my answers wouldn't count if someday mylot decided to weed out topics.
The way it is now, I think mylot is going to lose members. After all, it doesn't pay all that month, so seeing our rating scores go up was one of the percs. Now when they're going down faster than they're going up, I'm sure some people will just say "To heck with it" and find somewhere else to spend their time. If the earnings start decreasing, then I know everyone will be even madder.
MYLOT TELL US WHAT'S GOING ON!!!!!

I wanted to add that I just wrote this entire long answer. When I submitted it, instead of my rating going up a point, it went down one! I noticed the same thing happen to me yesterday. GRRRRRRRR! Why should I keep posting when my rating goes down when I do it?

i havent noticed this with my posts, but i know the new rules state something about meaningful posts. and those people who are just posting to get the points will lose them for mundane answers. if that isnt the case with you, it may just be a glitch. i would give it another day or so and if it isnt corrected by then, i would contact mylot for help

Yup! It increased all right. I think responses add to your points but comments do not. If comments DO add to your points, maybe they don't add as much as responses do. It's a little silly, for comments are what stimulate lenghty discussions, not individual responses alone.

I agree with you...you can't make a discussion at all if what you start doesn't keep going with responses and comments.

My rating went up one point when I posted the above comment. I haven't noticed my rating going down, but I'll keep an eye on it now that it's been mentioned by so many members.
