thanks for your reply...I see now, it's kind of like geocaching (well, loosely like geocaching) but with books. I looked at the website and it seems like fun. There are actually some 'wild' books in my town...I might have to give it a try!

I love bookcrossing. I have a large bookshelf there and am planning on going through my books soon to start getting some of them out of my house. I think bookcrossing is a great place to do that since people can look at your book shelf and choose the books they want. THat way you know that the people will enjoy them. It is also great fun to release them into the wild to see if they get journaled. I have released a lot and some have been journaled.

I'm not sure. I'll have to let you know after I get through everything. I have over 1500 books in the house right now. LOL. My husband says I have to cut way back and only have 1 bookshelf full. Although he didn't say that I couldn't have more than one row on each shelf or stack them on top as well.

Hey! I'm a bookcrosser too. Well, I've left one book - but it did get picked up and the person did put a note on the web-site.
I put the bookcrossing label on the outside of the book, rather than the inner cover - I think the reason lots of books don't get picked up is that many people think they are lost property and don't even touch them.
Have you been bookcrossing for long?

snowflake5 I think you do have a point! Which is why I was considering putting my book in a clear plastic bag with a tag that says "Take me" or something...I really think it might be best to have something on the outside to indicate to people that the book is available to be "taken". I'm about to release one now...

I found a couple of books. one left in a railway station, and the other in a restaurant. I asked around, no one knew who the books belonged to, so I took them. A few years later I discovered bookcrossing.com and looked up the books, but they were not registered... I don't have the time to go book hunting, but I do follow the forums and occasionally trade books with other members.
