german shepherds are watch dogs

That's a gorgeous picture. Looks just like my dog, except mine's all blonde instead of white. I always figured he was a mix of shepherd and yellow lab, some people say he may be a full blooded shepherd though. He's definitely a good watch dog. Barks at people that come to the door & I mean, he goes psycho lol, hates & kills any small animals that venture into the yard, and male dogs lol. Definitely got shepherd in him that's for sure.

Well they can be. I think it's an inherent part of their nature but they are also wonderful family dogs, big wussies, only intelligent when they want to be, extremely loyal, great with kids and all round wonderful pets. My shepherd is only around 8 months old but she has developed a habit of standing at my window and staring at the people who dare to walk across the front lawn,(so I think that is part of her nature) of course she's also developed a habit of running around the house with whatever item of clothing she can find that was left on the floor.(I think that's part of her being a dopey dog)
