Who is Jesus?

[People say] "I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept his claim to be God." That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic—on a level with the man who says he is a poached egg—or else he would be the devil of Hell. You must take your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God; or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon, or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.
—From Mere Christianity , C. S. Lewis (1898–1963), Professor of Medieval and Renaissance English Literature, Cambridge University, England

That verse in John 14:9 " He that has seen me has seen the father also" is taken out of context. Jesus meant that all that he is doing reflects what God would have also done because Jesus was on earth to show the Jews what kind of person God is.
If Jesus was God, why was he saying in verse 12 "I am going my way to the Father"? Can someone be on his way to himself?
Remember the 3 temptations Satan gave Jesus. Satan NEVER once identified Jesus as God. Whether Jesus was God or not, no one is more sure than Satan himself. And yet Satan calls Jesus "Son of God" not "GOD".

C.S. Lewis was one of the great Christian Apologists. He is very logical in his areguments for religion. I believe he was an Atheist before finding God.
Your selection is a strong argument, it's the one that keeps me from being a Christian. I respect his teachings of love, but his insistance on being God Himself keeps me away. I don't believe in God. But apparently he did.

Force, wondering why Christ's insistance on being God Himself keeps you away from becoming a Christian? Would also like to say that for someone that I disagree with, I very much respect you and the way that you handle yourself in religious arguments! It's nice to see someone who is respectful of others and not attacking. Kudos!

I'm sorry I didn't notice the question sooner, Mylot has a tendancy to send a week's worth of notices all at once.
As to your question, the reason is that while I agree with Christianity as a philosophy, deep down I don't believe in God as you do. I believe that it's not possible for any of us to Know, and all religions have the same chance of being the Right one as each other.
Being that I can't accept the existance of the Biblical God, means that, to me, C.S. Lewis was right. Jesus was probably just as crazy as his message was peaceful.

P.S. I like you questions. Keep it up.

Jesus is the Son of God. He was sent to earth 2,000 years ago to die for our sins and save us from going to hell. If we accept Him as our savior, we will get to live with Him in heaven forever

Jesus is both the Son of God and God. Believing in him is a matter of faith. Either you believe in him or you don't. There is no middle ground.

I'll fall at His feet. C.S. Lewis was a very wise man. I just started reading that book. I have read others by him, he makes so much sense. I believe Jesus is God.

Yes, Jesus is the son of God. He was 'sent' down to earth and born as a human being. He was a great teacher, and his purpose of being sent down to us was to die for our sins..Previous to that, humans had to sacrifice animals to 'give back' that Holy blood in a plea of forgiveness for sins committed on behalf of our imperfection. That imperfection took root when the first sin was committed in the Garden of Eden, first by Eve who was deceived, and then by Adam, who sinned also..After the sacrifice of Jesus, humans no longer had to sacrifice animals...But Jesus was a 'perfect' human being, and during his time on earth, he taught and even performed miracles of healing -back during the time when God still had a 'connection' to humankind. In our present time, we are quick to blame God for things that go wrong in our lives, and many only pray in times of need..Yet, when something wonderful happens to us, how many truly thank God?
I believe he is sitting back, watching us during our full use of our 'free will', with the direction of the fallen angel and his followers..And the day will come when God steps in and 'takes back the reign' and lets the Truth be known to all, with destruction of all evil of the World..

I believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God. Would you please rent the movie, The Perfect Stranger.? I think you will be amazed and a lot of your answers answered in that film. It was from the book, Dinner with a perfect stranger by David Gregory.
The Producer and director of the film is by Jefferson Moore.
Please see it.

I believe that Jesus is exactly who He claimed to be. I also believe that there will come a day when everyone on earth will come to realize that Jesus is the Son of God, hopefully it won't be too late.

Jesus never told anybody that he was god, at that time nobody else thought of him as a god, he was a precher of good things and just told everybody to do good things and be away from evils, as the matter of fact it was we who started calling him god

How dare you tell people what opinions and thoughts they can have? That's as stupid as America saying to other countries that anyone not willing to send troops to help them will be considered a threat. People can think what they like, and hold whatever opinions they have, whether they fit into your extreme absolutist outlook or not. Grow up - life and opinions are not black and white!

Jesus is said to be God, some says he's a prophet. But guess what? At the end of the day it is still up to you on whether who jesus if for you. Jesus is who you want him to be. If your belief says he's God then you made him who you want him to be. In christians we call it faith.

Then call me a fool, because I will fall at the Son of God's feet and praise his name for all eternity..He did once walk the earth as man, and did things as one too. But that never took away from who he really was and still is, and I am no one to say or ask different if God himself has made it apparent that we are to accept his Son. Not everything that happens in life has a logical explanation. Sometimes they just are..
