Toys? What do you want toys for? Wooden spoons and pans are far more interesting!
My toddler likes things which he can put things in and out. He also has pretend phones which make beeps and other phone sounds. Kids like to play with "real" things so I think getting something realistic is always good. My toddler also has a few wooden mazes, I don't know if you know what I mean but they are brilliant and both my kids have always liked them. They are like a wooden base with "wires" which have beads on which they can move around. I also find that my kids like anything which makes a noise! And they always like books.

Well, an abacus would be good but that's not what I meant. I suppose it's a bit like an abacus but the beads go over different patterns. You can get some where the wires are in the shape of animals and things.

In India, you do get toy remotes, toy mobiles that play various tunes on [ressing the buttons and keep the child occupied, even very happy. Just be careful that you buy a good quality one that is mostly unbreakable and is made for use for babies, with no small parts and choking hazards.

Look up information on the developmental stage your child is in. Depending on the toddler's age, the interests and attention span can vary quite a bit. Most toddlers enjoy anything that lights up or plays music and has buttons they can push.
