Just wanted to find out if there are any members on myLot that is also using this website. Flickr.com is a photo based website where you post your favourite photos for the public or just your own personal group of friends to view. I found that there is a large membership that is already growing at a fast pace. The contents of the photo base is staggering and many groups has formed their own interests.

I love Flickr. I have been on it for about 2 years now and have gotten a lot of great ideas from other photographers on there. I have also had a few of my pictures picked up for inclusion in travel guides, just by posting them on flickr.

Wow ChewySpree, You must be a great photographer to be able to do that. Me? I would be exhilirated if my photos were selected for publishing even at a local magazine. What I have not done yet is to become a Pro member. I feel I am not into that level yet and that others may find my photos as just plain garbage. Maybe someday I will really get serious about it. Also I will take my friends' advise that I should join more groups in Flickr.com to be more acquainted with the professionals and learn from their styles and ways of photographing subjects, people, landscapes and still life and portraits. I have a lot to learn.

I enjoy flickr very much because of the huge amount of various photos. I cannot afford to travel to far so I browse photos of different places, countries, and continents. A wonderful thing is that the photos are free to browse for non-members also.

Yup, really volumes of photos on almost anything there is on this world. Some are graphical interpretations, some creative work with the lens, subject, lighting, color and many things. I have been awed by the variety of photos posted on this site. There is a lot of travel photography on the site, which makes me envious of the places where the authors have been and have taken those shots. Seeing those pics makes me think of planning a trip to those places as well. As per my response to "boomersint" there is a variety of photos that you can view on Flickr.com and most of them are posted and can be provided downloaded if the authors allow it. Great source of pics and images if you are just starting out in imaging and graphic works. Some photo authors have allowed a certain level of copyright so that anybody can use the posted photos to a certain extent.

I have joined this site before but I don't really know how to go about it. All I know is I can host my picture there for free. Then after that I forget my account 'cause I don't know how it really works. Can you please tell me how beneficial it is to people? Thank you.

Hi bestfriend, Here's how Flickr.com works: Flickr is owned now by Yahoo!. It's a complimentary site to their Yahoo!360, where you also have the same function. Flickr is just a much better and larger site for professionals and amateur photographer's site. ----------------------------- It works as a public album for your photographs that you want to share with the general public. Visitors can post their comments on your snapshots for general or constructive criticisms. You will be surprised that some visitors to the site may consider your snapshot a great work of art. You just have to publish them for you to find out how they respond to your snapshot postings. ----------------------------- But it also works as a private album for your close relatives, friends and co-workers to share private pictures on the net. You get your own library of photos available on the internet. Your close relatives, friends and co-workers can view and comment on your snapshots. Nice way to get a community too if you limit yours to your own private community like say an organization or a private group. ----------------------------- Last but not the least, in fact very practical: Keep posting your favorite snapshots to the site so that not only can you and your friends and relative view your photos, but you are practically archiving them on a free hosted server. In case something happens to your computer, or your SD or CF drive, you can always download it back to your computer or CD. Great? You bet. Free and convenient. My Flickr.com ID = "ericgozar"

Wow! Thank you soo much! You are sooo nice! Thanks for the patience in answering my question. This really amazed me, that we can actually make money out of our used stamps. I will look for my kaban in my room and see if my old stamps is still there. I collected stamps just because I liked the picture on it but didn't know that I can make money on it hehehe. Wow! I will start collecting stamps now, I have a friend who have lots of stamps, I will try to ask it from her heheh, maybe by the time I am old, these stamps will cost more, if not, no problem with me, its a joy collecting stamps looking at the picture really.

Flickr would have to be my favourite site. I use it mainly to share my drawings, quilts and digital scrapbooking. It is wonderful to get comments on your creations and it is my main source of inspiration to see what wonderful arts crafts photography that other people are doing. Also the friend system there is nice - you can actually form relationships with like minded people.

Oh, I did not know that there is a friend system within Flickr.com. I thought that there was only the "pools' where you co-share your photos. Yes, sharing photos is kinda neat and addictive. So your crafts are photographed and posted into Flickr ha?

its a waste to have an album website, atleast the size to upload should be more than 5mb

I should say not really. Flickr is a public website so it is just right that a 5MB upload with a monthly limit is just enough to publish one's work thru the net. Besides, you might not want a photo with so much resolution that it could be copied and used without your consent. Would you like that? If you have several photos, it would be more than enough to have volumes of your work uploaded without making Flickr slow down due to too much bandwidth and storage being used up. :)

I love it because it is part of Yahoo and I can use it on Yahoo 360 blog etc. I also have lots of photos everywhere such as photobucket and Ringo.

Oh yes, it is nice that is now part of Yahoo! and it is linked to my 360 blog too! But the nicer thing about it is that you belong to a group of photo enthusiasts and the average snapshooters of the family and their friends, so it really covers all the photo buffs there is in the world. A nice place to view other's works, even travel pics of others, someone's personal pics of their own favourites etc. It really connects you to similar minded people that loves to snap away at almost anything there is to capture in this beautiful world.

I am a member of Flickr.com and I like it better then most other websites out there for sharing photos. I have only been a member for about two weeks and I really like the sense of community that they have over there. I really like group shapring idea as well. In fact I have become a member of many groups already in an attempt to share my photos and get my pictures more exposure. I was a member of a different site for the past 2 years and while they offered a great sense of community the chances of you photoes getting exposed anywhere outside of the people that you knew was minimal. With Flickr more people see and view my photos everyday then ever. I am very satisfied with Flickr so far.

Yup, no earnings, but if you are a newbie or professional photographer, you will love the site. It is a photographer's community. But some families also join this as they have the opportunity to share the pics they have posted on a common site.

Whooaaaa! I visited your husband's photo series and I think he is a great photographer. Looks like he is a real pro. This is the wonder of Flickr, one's creative photographic work being pitted with the best and the rest of the world. I also feel that your husband is more into travel photography and has then shifted to more photoshop work on his creations. His work looks great! Please convey my congratulations to him.

Something and I know a Lot of other Flickr members feel, is, that Flickr is bringing more Peace to this world, this Planet. Through the connections with others from all over this Planet. We are giving people what they desperatly want, attention, respect, words complimenting them on there work there live. Love for who they are and what they are doing. Many groups we have on Flickr, we can give awards for excelence, to people on photos or art they have done. How Wonderful that feels seeing we have been resieved an award from another member on Flickr !!!****** You can creat your own groups for others to join too, and invite all your flickr friends. The comments we recieve from people around the World keeps our hearts warm. Thank you Flickr !!!******
