Relationship with the Neighbors

How would you say your relationship is with your neighbours? Do you trust them? Are they weird? Nosey? Annoying? Criminals? Would you trust them enough to have them babysit your house while you're away? Why or why not?

Neighbors on one side are really good neighbors, and so are some across the back alley. Others I never see. Some own their homes, some rent. The guy to the south is the salt of the earth and a really good neighbor. To the north we have a rental, and I seldom get acquainted with the tenants. The current ones seem to keep exactly opposite my schedule, sleep days, work nights, and I think some more people have moved in with them--four cars. Fed Ex mistakenly took a pkg. there--they never told me or brought it over, I found out when they threw it out. Last week I went over at 1:00 am because their dog was running loose and causing all the other animals in the neighborhood to go crazy.I do not think they have good judgement. I have friends close by--maybe three blocks away that I would have them watch my house.

On our left side our neighbours are really awesome. They're a fifty-ish year old couple and their two older kids. Carla, the mum, bakes us cookies and greek cakes every now and hands them over the fence. Luke, her husband, is a mechanic and he fixes and services our cars for a lot cheaper. On the other side we have a similar ages couple with two older kids also. They're very nice, but we don't see them a lot, as they go away a heap. They let us climb the fence anytime and use their pool, whether they're there or away. However, their older son is a drum player and he'll play it for hours at full blast playing the same tune over and over... Mum and dad trusts both of them with looking after our house while they are away.

I don't have anyone close by. The ones that I do have, I'm not friendly enough with to babysit my home. What about your neighbors?

I don't know my neighbors at all. We don't socialize alot, we prefer to be by ourselves, it's less headaches that way.

I do not talk to any of my neighbors, I am a very private person so i try not to get too involved with my neighbors. I will wave to them if they are outside or something but that is as far as it goes.

Neighbors - A picture of my backyard as well as my neighbors backyards with the woods behind the yards.
I have a wonderful relationship with my neighbors as we get along great. At least the 6 that are right along my townhouse. I do trust my neighbors closest to me. They are the best and I couldn't ask for better neighbors. We do have a convicted criminal up the road so that makes me nervous. I would allow my close neighbors to watch my house and actually gave my next door neighbor the keys to my house.

We do not have a relationship with a neighbours, the neighbours are not very friendly and do not speak or acknowledge us and they keep themselves to themselves. We wouldn't trust them to look after the home or to look after our cats, because there is no connection at all. They are not even nosey, but at least they are quiet and I hate being disturbed by noise!

Our next door neighbors have two girls that are the same ages as my two girls. Our oldest are in the same first grade class. The neighbors are always civil to me, but I get the impression they are snooty and think they are better than me because they make more money and keep a cleaner house.

I do trust my neighbors, but I do not need anyone to babysit my house. I do not lock my house...(do not ask where I live)and do not need watching. I have 24/7 cameras and recording, so I would know if anyone walks in and why. :)

I live in an apartment complex and everybody is almost always inside their own homes. I do know who my neighbors are and do share a hello when we run into each other in the lobby or the laundry room. but none of us has ever taken any more effort.

I live in a dorm room and I am lucky to have great neighbors. I have an Indian guy on one side, and a Cuban on the other. They are my two best friends, but yes they are incredibly weird. It is nice to have friends so close, especially when I get upset and need someone to talk to. The only problem we have ever had is when one of them plays his music too loud late at night and I have a class the next day. Other than that, we are great.

My trust level is low. And I do not get along with all of my neighbors. The reason why the sprayed chemicals and killed most of my garden.

I have a good relationship with my neighbors and I trust them. I can leave the house to their care and I have a peace of mind while away as my house is in good hands.

I trust my neighbors. I was cautious at first but over time a trust has been gained somewhat. I wouldn't let them in my house to watch while im not home but other than that they are pretty good neighbors and we all watch out for one another.

Most of the neighbors around us have been there for ten years or more and are really nice. Except the one that moved in across the street. I don't care for him. I've never met his wife. They have a nine year old son that plays with my eleven year old and eight year old. The boys father goes overboard when it comes to "protection". If the kids get into an arguement like kids do, he's out there yelling at who ever his son is argueing with. The first time we met him, he came to our door because he heard through his son that my husband had said something negative about him - which isn't what my husband said. The second time we met him and I got into a yelling match in my front yard. His son had gotten mad at mine and had scratched my son's face. (I draw the line at physical confrontations). I told the boy three times to leave my yard. (The boy has no respect for women). My son kept argueing with him because the other boy wouldn't leave. The father came out and was screaming at me that my son was badgering his and that he could hear what was going on and that if I didn't control my son we were going to have a problem. I told him what I thought and he finally got his kid out of my yard. On the other hand - as much as I dislike the guy - I had a grease fire a couple of weeks ago and my kitchen caught on fire. He got here before the firemen and did get the fire out. I had almost $9,000. worth of damage as it is, if he hadn't got the fire out - it would have been worse.
