Nah. Snakes aren't aggressive animals, so there's no need to be afraid of them. Trust me, they don't want to be anywhere near you!! They tend to give off really clear signals when you're near - sound, smell, etc. - and all you have to do is back away.

Yes! Youu are right! But all the snakes are not poisonous. In our country we have thousnds of varieties of snakes of which there are only four varieties of them who are poisonous. They are Cobras, Krait, Pit Viper and Russl Vipers. All others are non poisonous and they help us by balancing the eco system. rat snakes and for that matter any other snakes they pray rats and they are very helpful to the farmer in our country.Snakes unless they are provocated they don't like to bite a human being. Poisonous snakes use their venom to capture their prey. They bite the prey and the process of digestion begins there only as the prey gets all his muscles relaxed and then the snake swallows the prey. The poison is actulaly used for this purpose, not to kill hiuman beings.Snakes shy away from Human beings! It is basically uman being encraching the natural habitat of snakes and unnecessarily blaming them, if accidentally any mishap occurs!

Yes, I am afraid of snakes, even the nonpoisonous ones. I don't know why exactly. There is just something about them that strikes fear in me. I'm not really afraid of spiders so much although I wouldn't want to be bit by one but just the sight of a snake scares me.
