Adoption...Because the baby you abort just might hold the key to the cure for cancer, or the cure for the commomn cold, or the cure for stupidity...

Nature vs Nurture but still both sides are right on this. A child has as much chance of becoming the next Sabin or Alexander Fleming, as he/she does of becoming the next Stalin or Hitler.

I'm just thankful that I have choices in life! Neither of these are an option for me. If I were adult enough to choose to create another life, I'd take responsibility in raising and supporting that child.
If you knew a woman who was pregnant, who had 8 kids already, three who were deaf, two who were blind, one mentally retarded, and she had syphilis.
Would you recommend that she have an abortion?
If so, you just aborted Beehtoven!

7 children were born to the Beethoven family. Only 3 survived past infancy (Ludwig included of course). Plus Ludwig was not the last child conceived in the family.

Well it would really depend on the situation...
I'm I pregnant from rape? Abortion - don't want the offenders DNA growing in me.
Do I have a cancer that has to be treated now? Abortion - my life is more important to far too many for me to jeopardize.
Am I too old to carry out the pregnancy? Abortion- Same as cancer
Do I suffer from a severe heart conditions? Abortion-same as cancer
I just don't want the kid? Adoption- I might change my mind later and could hook up with them down the road.
Don't have the money to raise it? Adoption - I could become financially stable and again find them later on.
But these are just my opinions.

I don't think it is comparable, abortion is a sin, not a solution, for me. While adoption is I think a great thing to do, helping someone to live with guidance. Everybody needs proper guidance as foundation of our growth, maturity.

Fortunately, I've never been in such a situation, but if I were, I would probably abort. If I don't want a pregnancy, I certainly wouldn't carry it for nine months, going through all the pain and stresses of pregnancy, and then the ultimate pain of labor and delivery. Thank God I will never have to go through such a heart wrenching decision making process.

My responses would be much like how Sunshine responded. It would depend on how I came to be pregnant, and what else was happening in my life.
If I conceived from a rape, and the morning after pill wasn't available; I'd terminate the pregnancy.
If the pregnancy jeopardized my health, I'd terminate. I have 3 actual children & their needs to think of too.
If I were an addict & the local detox had a 4 month waiting list to get help, I'd terminate.
If my birth control failed- well, my birth control did fail & I am now 32 weeks along with baby #4. At this stage in my life, continuing the pregnancy wasn't a difficult choice to make. I'm in a stable & supportive relationship. I own a comfortable home and have plenty of room for another child. My job is beyond flexible & I can take time off without any ramifications any time I like. I'm in good health, and we were considering TTC next year. So although unplanned, it wasn't at all unwanted. Change some of those variables & I'm sure I'd feel differently.
