My mom and I are planning a baby shower for my sister; she's pregnant with her first child (a baby girl named Lilly Rose). The shower will have a Strawberry Shortcake theme (SS is the theme of the nursery as well). We've got a few ideas so far; some related to SS and some just baby related. Do any of you ladies (or gents) have a good idea for a game or a prize? Thanks in advance!

How about using a box of chocolate covered strawberries as a prize to go along with your theme?! Yummy!

I was going to suggest the same thing. :)
Chocolate covered strawberries would be a great prize. But I would also have some on the table of foods. They would surely be gone quickly but the winning would be able to enjoy the great food after the party is done. :)

I was at a baby shower yesterday.And my friend who arranged it.Took 4 nappies/diapers.
1.Choclate
2.Advocado pear
3.Strawberry Jam
4.Peanut butter
She didn't tell us what she wants do to with it.And in the middle of the baby shower she send around the 4 nappies/diapers for all the ladies to have a look at.They were all numbered. At the end she asked if anyone could remember what was in nappie 1,2,3,4.Two ladies got it right and one got a Manicure voucher and the other one a box of choclate.
We had a lot of fun.

Baby shower games are fun! I have had 2 babies...and some games I remember from my shower....
Poopy Diaper-
Melt chocolate various chocolate bars separately in the microwave and take the melted chocolate and pour into a diaper. (I think we had about 8 different kinds.) The game is to try to guess which kind of candy bar each one is. The prize for that one was a little basket full of all the same kind of candy bars that went into the diapers :).
Another fun game was ...
Baby Tray
Feel up a serving tray full of small baby items such as a bottle, travel pack of wipes, small lotion, q-tips, rattle, etc. The tray is passed around giving each player about 20-30 seconds to view the baby tray. When each player has viewed it, cover it, and time the players about a minute or so while they remember and write down all of the items on the tray. The one who guesses the most correctly wins! Of course the baby tray will go to the mother to be. The winner will get whatever prize.
Some great prize ideas would be a small plant, stationery, candles, a little liquid potpourri burner and small bottle of the potporri (this gift total is under 6 dollars at Wal-Mart!!) or a small set of glasses. Those kind of gifts were given at my showers and they seemed to be a hit.

My sister in law had a cool game where they had like 8 or 12 diapers , half of them had some melted candy and the other half had real baby food and you have the diapers numbered and pass them around see how many people can guess what type of candy bar or baby food is in it. Another one is if she knows what shes going to name the baby. have the full name on a peice of paper and see how many words could be with what letters are in the name. I also found a nice thank you letter from the baby to the guests to thank them for their gifts. Hope the party goes well.

Heres a cool game we played at my baby shower. Get a huge plastic baby bottle, the ones that have the little gifts inside, then put rice in it. Also mix in alot of CLOSED baby safety pins. Make sure it is well mixed up. Pass the bottle around the table and see who can get the most baby pins by putting in one hand. The one who has the most wins a prize!! You can also fill the bottle up with cotton and see who can guess how many cotton pieces are in there. Hope this helps. Good luck!

We did something similar to this for my baby shower. Instead of a big baby bottle we used a pink metal basket and used tiny plastic baby bottles in the rice. We filled a big baby bottle with skittles (my favorite candy) and gave it to the person who came closest to the number of skittles in the bottle. Thanks for the suggestion.

There was one game played at my last shower that I really enjoyed. The girl that threw me the shower cut all these little handprints out of construction paper and passed them out to everyone. Everone wrote there best parenting tip on them and there name. They made a great keepsakes and some of them gave us a lot of laughs!!!

Baby shower games are a fun thing to play when at a party of this kind. One fun baby shower game which can be played is called All Things Pink. This is a word search where all of the answers which must be sought out are items which are pink. The winner of the game is the one who gets the most answers correct in the time allotted. One prize or a number of prizes can be given to the winner(s) of the game.
also here's a great punch recipe to serve as refreshments :-)
1 can (16-oz.) frozen orange juice -concentrate; thawed
1 pk frozen sliced strawberries; -half thawed with juice
1 cn (6-oz.) frozen lemonade -concentrate
1 qt carbonated water
1 qt ginger ale
Thinly sliced oranges and -lemons, for garnish. Combine orange juice, strawberries, and frozen lemonade in a punchbowl with ice. Just before serving, add carbonated water and ginger ale. Garnish with orange and lemon slices.
Yield: 20 Servings

At my baby shower we played two games that i really remember. One was "guess the baby food" and the other was "how big is she" The baby food one was fun. You guys could buy some jars of baby food, take the wrappers off of them (number them or mark them in some way so you will know what the flavor is) and pass it around to be tasted. Then the people have to guess what flavor it is. We had a small prize for the winner. Also the how big is she wasnt so much fun for me. LOL Take a some string or yarn or something like that. Hand it around having everyone cut off how much they think they would need to go around the belly. Its actually pretty fun. Your sister will be WAY off because she thinks she is a lot bigger then she really is. LOL everyone I know who has played this game has been WAY off also. Good luck and congratulations on the new baby neice!!

Oh what a great aunt you'll be! Congratulations!
Here's an idea:
How Many Baby Items Can You Name: (Materials- pad of paper and pen for each woman). Have each woman write down as many baby products as they can name (bottle, blanket, pacifier, etc) within 5 minutes. Sure it is easy at the beginning, but towards the last few minutes, the women will start racking their brains for more :) Give a prize to the woman who gets the most baby products named.
Also, here's a link with some fun ideas, some of which I've never heard of! Good luck and have fun!

I once went to this baby shower where we had to play this fun game. We had to have the phone on our shoulder, a doll in our arms and hang as many baby clothes on the rope in a certain amount of time. Just to see how much we could do with our hands full. It was pretty funny. Another game was where the guests had to write down a boy and girl name starting with each letter of the alphabet in a given amount of time. The person with the most names at the end wins the prize. Prizes could be shower gels & body lotions, candles, frames, picture albums, gift certificates, etc. All women related items. I found this website with tons of baby shower games, check it out: http://www.babyshowercentral.com/ by the way, this isn't a referral link, it's just the website url. Congrats on your niece and have fun planning and attending the baby shower!

Here's a cute game, called Melt the Ice. The day before the shower, freeze diaper pins, miniature pacifiers, tiny plastic babies, or similar items in ice cube trays. Give each guest an ice cube in a glass of water or other drink. The first person whose ice has melted so that the frozen item floats freely in the glass shouts, "My water broke!" and wins the game.

This may sound gross but it was a lot of fun. You take different kinds of candy bars and mush each of them into a diaper. Pass around each diaper and the guests can smell it and look at it to see if they can guess what candy bar it is.

I couldnt read through all the posts hope I am not repeating...
Who can diaper a baby doll blind folded with a cloth diaper and pin the fastest. Its funny.
you partner up and one is blind folded first while the partner vebally coaches you if you need help.. you are timed and then when everyone in the first group is done you switch and the partner goes.. Combined quickest time wins a prize..
Memory game where you put a handfull of baby items out and you get 30 seconds to study whats there. Cover them or remove them on a tray and who ever writes the most correct items wins..
Hope that helps.

This is a crafty one...pick out some beads (precious stones, glass, whatever your sister would like) and have each guest pick ONE as they walk in. Go over to the Mom-to-be, give her a hug, and say "hello" to her baby. (all while holding the bead) Have them wish her well during delivery, etc. and then collect the bead from them. When its done, string them together into a bracelet or necklace that the mother can wear and keep the feelings of that day with her!! :)
Have fun!!

I think that is a wonderful idea!!! The energy in the beads for well being and good luck will serve her will on days that she needs it in the future.
Great idea!!!
