Who will admit it?

I have a habit of letting my dogs lick the dinner plates after we eat. Of course they are washed well afterwards. But I was wondering how many others let their dogs do this. Most people I know with dogs do this too, but I also know some that think it is disgusting. Whats your opinion?

My parents used to do the same thing when I was still living with them and had our dog. We let it lick the plates and sometimes we would give our dog some of our food, depending on what it was. Dogs love our food much better than their food and I can not blame them for that. Some foods are not healthy for dogs so we only gave her certain things.

I think of our pets, as our children. It doesn't bother me at all, as long as it is cleaned afterwards.

I love my animals also and I treat them like my children and even when my cat was pregnant told my mom she was going to be a grandma which she thought I was pregnant..lol It broke her heart that I wasn't, but she says well any grandkid animal is better then none. But I will not let them eat off my dishes, my sister will though. A few of my nieces share their food and let the animals lick their stuff, even their Ice cream cones and continue to eat it. Well, happy posting margieanneart

My cat likes to try and lick my plate while I am still eating! Sometimes I let her taste the remnants when I am done. Often I will tear little pieces of meat and give them to her so she will let me finish in peace. She is such a little beggar.
I think as long as you wash it when you are done there is no harm done. And the pet feels like she is getting a special treat.

Nonsense! there is nothing wrong in an animal licking a plate so long as it is washed.
People kiss thier pets on a regular basis is that wrong as well especially when they kiss you all over your face with affection.
If that was the case how come there are not lots of people going to the doctors complaining of my pet has kissed me on the face disease???

Er, I'm glad I'm not the only person to do this, although with us its the cats, when I've finished my cereal I put my bowl down on the floor because the cats love to drink the milk. When we've been eating chicken and I leave some I put the plate on the floor for them to lick then I wash it up. Why waste? I know I should put it in their dishes, it may be disgusting but I don't care I love my cats and yep I spoil them rotten!

i think i would be okay with it as long as its washed afterwards. i dont think it will happen though. usually people that ive seen with pets, dont treat pets how they are supposed to. like how usually people let their pets lick there face and jump on them (gently), people that ive seen with pets are like "get off, stop!"

I will never let my dog to lick the dinner plates after I have finished eating. First of all there is an individual plate for my dog and I used to place food on its plate to feed him. Secondly I feel a bit disgust (sorry to say this) to share my plates with my dog though I love him very much.

Until my dog's food allergies worsened, we let him do this all the time. As long as you are washing your dishes, it's not bad at all. My husband's friend used to share his cereal with our dog - eating off the same spoon. That crossed a line to me. But giving the dog some scraps and letting him lick the plates never bothered me.

LOL LOL LOL OMG I do that too, so do my kids, Ha, but I always tell them, don't tell grandma we do this, she won't eat here anymore lol. Sometimes my german shepherd climbs up on a kitchen chair when we are eating too, and sometimes to be totally honest, I just slide my plate over right in front of him and let him eat my food, when I am full.
I also clean the dish very well, and then it goes into the dishwasher too so it is cleaned good.
What a great question!

I let Rascal lick our plates every now and then. Its not often though. I don't see a problem with it since you wash it after them doing so.

Of course I do. We put our plates or pans down for that matter and let her pre-clean them for us. Of course they then go into the dishwasher but there is nothing wrong with it. The dog seems to like it and will even sometimes share the pans with the cats. The plates she doesn't but the pans she will.

I don't usually let the dog lick our plates when we're finished eating becuase she's not all that interested. II will, however, let her jump into the baby's highchair and clean up anything he might've left. It's much easier than pulling out the vacuum 3 times a day. :)

We sometimes let our dogs lick out our plates, not very often though.
Apparently a dog's tongue actually has less bacteria than a humans, since their saliva contains a natural antibiotic,
