Hi! I am from the Philippines.
Our national bird is the Philippine Eagle, scientific name Pithecophaga jefferyi. It is locally known as "Haribon" or "Haring Ibon," meaning King Bird. It is supposed to be a dominant hunter in Philippine forests; it is now considered as a critically endangered species with not more than 500 species surviving.
Our national animal is the carabao, scientific name Bubalus bubalis carabanesis , a domesticated subspecies of the water buffalo found in parts of Southeast Asia. There seems to be no actual law that decrees the carabao to be our country's national symbol, although it is generally considered by most Filipinos to be their national animal.
