When I was a kid I had to clean my house and do dishes and trash for a meger $5.00 allowance.I have now seen kids that walk around with $50.00 in their pockets or more each week from their parents.Kids are given credit cards to shop and get their nails done. Are we to blame for a spoiled non working society of kids? What do you think?

Yep, that's true and you have a point there. I too had to work hard to earn my allowance when I was growing up. Nowadays, kids are having it easy. It's going to be hard for them when they grow up and get into the real world, but they'll learn really fast.

I, too, was brought up learning to do things around the house and out in th yard. At the time I hated it but when I became an adult I understood what they were doing. Kids today money, credit cards, etc for ding absolutely nothing. Which is very sad because when they grow up their going to think society owes them. When in reality society owes them nothing.

The value of work does not have to mean the pocket money. Although my son is still young to understand the worth of money.
I teach him that we have to work for everything. For example he has to clean his shoes, if he goes to the mud. Once he smeared the wall in the closet. I got shocked. He was alredy 6. What could I do? I just asked him to clean it very quickly.
I do not think I should give money if the kids help us in the household. But I still do not know how shall I give pocket money (or how much) to him, when he will attend the elementary.
