How much is too much. I am a father of 2 I work full time. i play about 2 hours worth of video games a day M-F, Weekends don't ask. Is that too much. Sometimes I feel like I could be spending my time more productively. What do you think?

Are you married? You work 40 hours a week then you spend 10 hours a week (m-f) playing video games. You have 120 hours from Monday to Friday. Let's say you spend approximately 8 hours a night sleeping and an hour every two days for bathroom/shower. Let's also say you spend about 1 hour a day eating your meals. This leaves you with about 2 1/2 hours to spend with your kids Monday thru Friday. If you ask me, you're wasting your time playing video games and you should be spending a fifth of that time playing games the ENTIRE week, weekends included. Of course, you can continue to ignore realty and your children and play video games instead. It's an easy thing to do.

I would think it depends on when you play video games. Is it after the kids go to bed? Then you are spending quality time with them. Everyone needs some form of escapism. It doesn't hurt anything as long as you understand that the games are just that a game. Besides, why do you think people read fiction? To escape life for a little bit.

I don't think that spending 2 hours per night is too much video game time. You work full time and deserve to have some fun, if videogames is what you enjoy than I don't see a problem. I suppose that playing video games is the same as watching TV..no big deal in my view. As long as it's not taking over your life and you quit your job to play video games, you're in good shape hehe.

As long as the kids/wife are getting lots of attention, I don't see the problem. No different than watching tv, playing on the computer, or reading. You could do the games when everyone else is sleeping too. I wouldn't worry about it!

Being a father of 2, i suggest u try to send that 2 hours with ur children. Try to develop a good bond with them, u need to peep into their lives and mold their habits. Remember u can only bend a tree when it is a plant. Children is a huge responsibility.

well, i dont see any problems in just relaxing after work...but then, play after you finish doing what you have to do, of course! dont be guilty for loving yourself, my friend! :D

Everybody needs some down time to do what they love doing. I don't see a problem with it as long as you and not putting off doing what needs to be done.
Also you could try to get your kids into as well and then it is not only fun for you but quality time with your kids.
I don't play video games every day but when I do play it is for longer than 2 hours. My sister and I can sit down and play for eight hours straight, which is why we are selective on when we play.
relaxing yourself and destressing is productive, so don't feel bad about it.

I am a huge gamer, myself. I enjoy a nice pleasant couple rounds of Halo 2 and Gears of War, as well as a couple hours of gameplay into Final Fantasy XII. I don't see any harm in taking a couple hours a day and play some video games...as long as they're good video games ;-)

i definately think if you have a wife and children, it is too much. You should be spending time with your children until their bedtime, which I am assuming would only be an hour or so after you get home,, and then you should spend some time with your wife. Maybe you should dedicate some weekend time or maybe a 1/2 hour a couple days a week to video games. I guarantee it would make for a happier home life.
