Actually, my partner's birthday is on Valentine's day. So we do not really recognize Valentine's day. I will combine the two for him though. I have sent him a personalized oversized chocolate chip cookie, a bouquet of balloons, and then take him out to dinner and give him a present at dinner. So yes, when I was working, I would go all out for him because not everybody is born on this day. :) But this coming Valentine's...I do not think I will be able to do much because I am not currently working.

Thank you! That is very sweet. And with a little bit of hope and a little shove...maybe I will be able to get the kids to stay in bed so I can have a nice dinner alone downstairs with him. :)

Unfortuately, my hubby is always working. But, when he comes home, I always have a special gift, and card that I make for him. I also bake him a heart shaped cake. What do you do for your sweetheart? This day is special because Halmark says so, hehhehehe. But, it is nice to do it, but it should be done more than one year. Your love should always be treated with love and respect, and gifts time to time to show you care.

That is so sweet of you to get him a gift and make him a card. I hope he appreciates what you get him and make for him. I have not had a sweetheart in a long time but I do now so I will definitely get her a card and flowers and treat her to dinner at a nice restaurant. Everyday should be Valentines Day really as both people should show their love for each other everyday.

i think valentine's day it too commercialised...though i would say that it's better to be a woman than a man on this day :D but honestly, everywhere you go is $$$, you will see people selling roses everywhere, restaurants are offering meals at triple the price...it's really not wise to be out on that day...hehe...normally i will spend valentine's day with my bf doing those things that dont spend much money...strolling along beaches...window shopping...and just be together

Hopefully this Valentines Day me and the lady that I am talking to will have a great day together and have fun together. It has been a while since I was with someone on Valentines Day. The last time I saw someone, I broke up with her before Valentines Day.

I'm always puzzled about what to get for my husband. I usually just do a special dinner for him. I think this day is special because we get to be reminded about why we're together and show ourselves how much we mean to each other.

It is a very special day and hopefully this Valentines Day will be special for me as well as I am seeing someone after a couple years of being single. I know that I will get her flowers but not sure what else other than taking her out to diner at a nice restaurant.

I'm making gift baskets for my family, friends and coworkers. Here's a sample:
Valentine Bark
Any assortment of Valentine's candy can be used in this recipe with great results - message hearts, cream filled chocolate hearts and small cinnamon hearts.
1 pound white chocolate, semisweet chocolate, or milk chocolate
2 cups assorted Valentine's Day candy
Line a large jellyroll pan with parchment or wax paper and set aside.
Melt the chocolate in a large heavy saucepan over very low heat or in a microwave, stirring frequently until the chocolate is smooth and melted. Spread the melted chocolate evenly on the prepared pan. Sprinkle the candy evenly over the chocolate and press the candy into the chocolate to make sure it will not fall out later. Set aside the chocolate to cool.
Once the chocolate has set, break into small pieces. Store the bark in a tightly sealed container at room temperature or in the refrigerator. Wrap the candy in plastic wrap or brightly colored cellophane and tie into small bundles with bright ribbon for gift giving. Add a special tag or Valentine to each little bundle.
Makes about 1 1/2 pounds candy.
