Oh I've seen my share of the emergency room. The last time I was in an emergency room, my daughter stuck a peanut up her nose and we couldn't get it out. Two days, an emergency room, a specialist, and an operation later, the peanut re-emerged. What an ordeal that turned out to be. I certainly don't look forward to the next emergency room visit.

No that wouldn't be fun! Sounds like you are accident prone! Are you taking BP medication now or not?
Thanks for the reply.

I hope your brother is fully recovered. Hospitals are not a fun place to go and sometimes you end up sicker.

Oow, where they able to repair the hole? What caused the hole?
Sound horrifically painful. Please don't let that happen to me.
Thank you for the reply and I hope you are well mended and this does not ever occur again for you.

I've never had to go to the hospital, only the doctor when my hand got smashed between two tables thanks to a lovely man who decided it was great to swing back on his chair until he slipped and slamed the table into mine where my hand was! Apparently nothing was broken so I didn't have to go to the hospital.

LOL...I went five days a week for years...because I'm an R.N. and worked in the E.R. However, I have gone only once for myself and it was because I was 6 months pregnant and hemorrhaged. I've gone many times with my family...my husband for severe asthma attacks and a heart attack, my oldest for stitches numerous times and my youngest as he was a premie who had multiple problems that crept up for the first 4 years of his life.

I went to the ER this past spring because I had a stomach virus that went around campus. I had to get a shot in my butt to get better.

Oh yes, have you ever given blood and then dig for your vein. You just want to reach out and choke them. A bad nurse or a nurse having a bad day can make or break your experience at the doctors office or the emergency room.

Yes, a few times. For myself, and for my hubby and friends.

It is very stressful to be in the emergency room. What cause your visit to see the people in the white lab coats?
Thanks for replying.

Thank you for your reply. What did you go to the emergency room for? Anything traumatic or serious?

I ended up with a hernia back around this time in 2001. The hospital I went to had an extra department called Urgent-Care, in which I was able to walk in without an appointment, & cheaper than the ER. Being that they had trouble tryiung to figure out what it was, I ended up sent to the ER anyway. Being that I have no medical insurance after the surgury & all, I'm still making monthly payments on the bills.

Yes, I did have to go to the emergency room once in 2002 as I was having chest pains and could hardly breathe while at work. It turned out to be I was having a panic attack. I was treated and released shortly after having some tests done.

Last Friday the 9th I (a retired RN) had a stroke in the afternoon and was taken by ambulance to the local ER. As I can remember, the staff were very pleasant in spite of its filled capacity and my going in and out of consciousness. My husband (an LPN) says we were there from 2pm until 530pm because a room was not available after preliminary tests confirmed my stroke. He said everyone there in the ER were careful transferring me to other gurneys and getting my bloodwork and xrays done. The nurses came back often to check on me. I started regaining most of my senses when the call came for me to go upstairs. The staff smiled at me as I thanked them and wavedf goodbye. Yes, ERs are expensive because they are there when you need them 24/7 unlike regular doctors. I rather pay for the expense then have to wait until a regular appointment time when it might be too late!
