Do you belive life was easier in the past?

Depends what you mean by 'easier'. Easier can mean by cheaper goods, because of lower standard of living, but easier can also mean that you have more access to variety of goods and services, and even so, service play a great part in our society today.

I think that every generation has it's challenges and good times, and every generation naturally compares itself to the past. It is all relative. Today, we have it easier in some ways,such as better technology, access to shelter, food, water, and services; we have grown accustomed to our automated worlds and cannot imagine the rough times that previous generations had to endure. Can you imagine a life without a microwave, cell phone, computer, Internet, DVD player, shopping malls, shopping online, drive-through restaurants...??? But with all of that comes the stress and challenge of working, paying bills, finding the time to spend quality time with families, and even taking the time for church or worship. Even in our automated world of today, we do our share of "suffering"; it's just different from the suffering and fight for basic survival that previous generations had to endure. Unfortunately, some areas of the world are still living very basic lives, with few, if no, amenities. Can any of us imagine that? Even with our concerns now over terrorism and world security; Those of us who experienced 9/11 will remember that as previous generations remembered Pearl Harbor. The issues surrounding such a monumental event will naturally stress and change the world. But somehow life goes on... That's why history is so fascinating. It's amazing to see how far we have come, and to imagine where we're going!

hi,its exactly correct...but at the same time.......when people compared the coming days with existing days,again previous days are good...thats all comparison....at present we compare the present days with olden days....the tensions..life styles, food habbits ,human relations..very issue spoiled..NOW THE SOCIETY IS COMPLETELY LIVING WITH DISSATISFACTIONS...

Yes I have to agree with you you on that one. I see how my parents struggled to make ends meet. they didnt go to college because their parents could not afford it. so they had to take mindless jobs that didnot pay that well.

I think that things now are more complicated than they used to be. Inflation, too much technology, more demands. And yes, I believe that things were less stressful back then. Fathers went to work, mothers stayed home with their children to take care of them. Now, prices are crazy that usually a double income is needed. Mothers many times these days are required to work at least part time AND take care of their children. Very hard.

i think life was much easier in the past then it is now.today there is so much competition in each and every field.today we have money but no time to utilize it,we are not at peace with ourselves.

Different times different events. I think it is all equal when you think about it. There are problems today that makes it seem harder to live life well today just as in the olden days. Wouldn't it be better to learn from the past and enjoy the future? If people would stop and think of the past sometimes instead of thinking in the now and feeling how much easier or harder times were then they could see that times are what we make of it. Learn from the past and go forward I say. As I tell my children I was your age once and know what it is like you have not been my age yet so tell me in another 20 years what you are telling me today and see who had it easier.

Definitely YES. Today's life even for rich people is gettin' harder

seems so. at least in the old days, natural resources are more richer, life was more natural, and more fun.

i don't agree with the statement that life was easier in the past.. what's more applicable is "life is simplier in the past".. i believe that life here on earth nowadays is more convenient compared to previous times.. this i said cause as time passes, more and more equipments, innovations and things are being created to suit man's needs and satisfy their life.. you can now ride a car to go to a destination faster and in a comfortable manner.. you could cook your food without the need of getting charcoals or chopwoods.. you can now watch television which is a good past time and entertainment which before was not present.. i like life better today rather than before..

life in the past and present! Life in the past is not easy as it is in the present. People in the past struggle to survive, however, I do believe it was never stressful for many. Now, we became very materialistic which made our life stressful. Inventions made our life easy now but for some who struggle to acquire them made their lives so stressful.

You have to think about it. Back then there were hardly any home computers or PCs, nor the internet (OMIGOD! NOT MYLOT !?). since we're so used to all our technology, going back would probably be harder ....

i dont think life was easier in past if anything it was simple not as glamorous but much struggle was for survival so fighting was life cant be easy

Maybe it was easier for smart people as they were few, they could access easily to important status ... know everybody has a good education & is smart :P

I belive in the past more easier.at the past everythink just simplle.and now almoust everything has a complicated problem.so the past is easier for me

I do beleive that people are responsible for making life easy or difficult, if they only know the meaning of treating each other with kindness and love, nothing will be difficult, i am sure when love spread amongy people everythings will be easy. what can we do is to start with ourselves and help and support each other, respects other freedom and dignity, in this way we can ensure the happiness for the world. so it is between our hand don't blame life!!!!
