My husband and I both take care of this, that way we both know what is going on with our finances.

Never, me neither my family had never kept track on the expenses made for my family.. because it is not at all considered a sspending..
On house rent some Rs 5000/-
car -- nil
groceries and others -- Rs 10,000/-
total Rs 15,000 per month

My wife has kept a detailed account of house expenses from 1995. Sometimes she compares the prices of commodities which have gone up by 60% to 70%. Whatever is spent in the family, it is accounted for our guaging as to what direction we are going - I mean excess of expenditure over income, or as per planned budget.
