Do you bathe your cat?

I have two orange tabbies who need baths every now and again. I was very anxious the first time I gave them baths, but was pleasantly surprised at their behaviour. Of course they do not especially like it, but they behave shockingly well! A few years ago we had a cat who was impossible to bathe without receiving serious injuries! Does your cat allow you to bathe him?

good point! I have only one cat so it isn't such a big job for me. I don't bathe him very often, but occasionally it is necessary. Luckily he behaves pretty well for baths, but I get the feeling that he is the exception to the rule!

I have three, two are brothers raised together. Only one of the brothers not only allows it, but loves it. We have to fight him to stay out of our baths! The other two will shred you to pieces if you try. Isn't it strange, yet lovely how animals can have diffrent personalities like this?

I agree! It is such a pleasure to watch them react and respond to things in their own ways. My two cats are not siblings, but the youngest thinks that they are ;) Even so, they are very much alike in many ways. They definitely have their own personalities, likes, dislikes, etc. My two both get upset when they are on their way to a bath and give the typical cat response---legs out, fur up, noises to let me know they aren't happy, but they behave. That always amazes me. It's almost as if they are doing it for me-- they obviously don't want to be there, but allow me to bathe them even though they could fight back if they chose to.

I have never tried but from the reaction of my cat and water I do not think I will try. There may be more blood than water lying around.

This was my thought as well, my cats are not happy to be around water, but about a year and a half ago one of my cats got into something very stinky and a bath was necessary. I was skeptical, but tried anyway and was really surprised. He didn't like it at all, but he allowed me to do it without hurting me. I don't bathe them often as cats take care of their hygiene on their own for the most part, but I'm always pleasantly surprised at their behaviour when I do so---about once every 6 weeks or so.
