Animation Giant Joe Barbera Dead at 95
Along with partner William Hanna, Joe Barbera created the Hanna-Barbera cartoon empire. His cartoons are classics and still running today on the cartoon network. What was your favorite? Was it Tom and Jerry, the Flintstones, The Jetsons, Josie and the Cats, Yogi Bear, Scooby Doo? Or was it one of the many others that were created by this cartoon genius. "Joe really set the standard for television animation," Schwartz said, "and pretty much single-handedly with...Hanna invented television animation."You can read the full article on Barbera's death and career at the link below.

scooby doo is my favorite out of those. I also really like watching the flintstones. I pay extra every month just to have the cartoon network with all the Hanna-Barbra cartoons. I love the older cartoons, you can't beat them!!

I miss having cable, mostly because of the Cartoon Network. You are right, you just can't beat the old cartoons, they are and always will be the best.

Yes he was truly a legend. I loved so many of his creations. I don't have cable or satillite either, so I don't get to watch them anymore either. I hope they live on though for many generations to come.

My two favorites were the Flintstones and The Jetsons too. Did you see the movie that Hanna-Barbera created..."The Flintstones Meet the Jetsons?" It was a great combo of both favorites. I know what you mean, I loved so many of their cartoons. It is a real loss to the animation community to have them both gone. Barbera worked up until about six months ago. He was really an amazing man. Thank you for your response. I appreciate it.

Wile E Coyote was not a Barbera creation. Chuck Jones created both the Roadrunner and Wile E Coyote for Warner Brothers. That' okay though. Thank you for sharing your favorite.

That is wonderful. I watched them all with my kids when they were little. I still watch them when I can catch them. A true legend has been lost. It is sad.

Yes, they were genius's when it came to the creation of cartoons. Tom and Jerry was their first collaberation. Did you know that? I agree, I will watch it today and it is just as entertaining as it was 35+ years ago, when I was young. Thank you for replying.

Ok, H.R. Puffenstuff was one of my favorites too. I love that show. Unfortunatly, it is not a Hanna-Barbera cartoon. But, that's okay. Now, do you remember the theme song from H.R. Puffenstuff? I do. It never occurred to me to listen to the words, until I got older though. If you can recall it, say the words out loud. Don't sing them, just say them. Get the picture? Thanks hockeygal...I appreciate your response.

Oh my favorite would have to be Scooby Doo. I did like many of the other cartoons they did but that one is my all time favorite show. I'm so glad they made the movies as well, they did a great job with them, both the animated and the live action movies. I'm curious to see if they make more.

They did do a great job on those movies. I think the actors they chose for the roles were very accurate according to the cartoon characters. Thank you for your input. I appreciate it.

I wish I had cable or satillite so I could still watch them on Cartoon Network. That would be awesome. I am going to start collecting dvd's though, so I can still watch them, and show them to my grandson one day. Thank you for your reply.

My favorite Hanna-Barbera cartoon was the flintstones. I justloved Dino, Pebbles, and BamBam. I think they were the best characters in the show. I know they were not seen very often but when they were you just knew it was going to be a good episode.

I am amazed at how many people love "Tom and Jerry". I like the cartoon, but I don't think I would rate it as a top favorite. So many are, tht I am thinking maybe I need to watch some of the cartoons to see what I missed. Thanks for your response. I appreciate it.

I think that is pretty much how I feel about it too. There is nothing now like those oldy but goodies. It is such a wonderful memory of mine, sitting down, watching Saturday cartoons, with all these characters. They were like my friends, lol. Now, I know I sound crazy...hehehe. Thanks for your response.

I love the Flintstones. I've really became rather interested in watching them more lately, and I can't figure out why, but I really adore that cartoon. I also like Tom & Jerry of course, that has been my favorite since I was a pretty young kid. I used to watch the Jetsons off and on when I was younger, but now I really can't get into it.

Definitely the Flintstones. I love that show!! I really did not care for Scooby Doo, which is why I don't understand why it is so popular. I hate that show! Lol no offense to anyone who likes it. I also really like the Jetsons, they probably come second next to the Flintstons. And third would be Yogi Bear. I don't really like Tom and Jerry either; although I did like the Christmas epsiode of that show.
