What are somethings that upset you about mylot users?

As an member of the mylot community, I notice many things among other member that just seem to rub me the wrong way, through their discussions and/or responses to discussions. Now I realize that not everyone that is a member of mylot are here for the same reasons that I am. But the underlying principles of are somewhat similar, I think. (to have discussions that are meaningful and to make a little money while doing so) It seems, as more and more people become aware of this community of discussion starters that we are being flooded with meaningless banter and blah blah blah. I want to see some real discussions, have real input, see others with real input, get posts that are worth mylot paying for, and have my mind, emotions, thoughts, life affected by such things. I am tired of all of the worthless chatter. When does this banter and blibber blubber begin to take a toll on those of us who are really here for this sites true purpose? What are somethings that upset you? What do think or feel about all that i have stated above?

I think that a lot of the nonsense comes from people who want to post lots of discussions at one time and really don't put any thought into things. That's where you find discussions like what color is your mouse pad ... or like the person you mentioned who says that she's a virgin waiting to get married and then you check out her profile and she has a baby and other posts about how to get some. They really are just hear to see how many responses they can get and don't think about topics that they care about. I think that everyone should post discussions that they have a vested interest in and only answer posts that they care about ... stop saying, "I have never heard of this, I will have to research this more."

Vested interest means that you don't post things just to be a PITA! Thanks for the laugh!

I know what you mean. I finally received some posts on one of my discussions, about 11 last I checked and I loved it. Posters taking their time to really give their input. Even though we don't get paid for it, I responed to each of them. That's what I love about posting, carrying on a conversation, really learning something new. As for the never ending mindless posts, it's getting tiresome swimming throught those. People don't even take the time to search and see if that topic has already been posted. So you get to see the same topic several times in one day. The ones like "should I cut my hair?" kills me.

I didn't see that one about taking a bath with clothes on or off! That's just funny. Makes you wonder if they're serious of if someone is just laughing their head off when they write it!

i guess most of us are here to earn some money, but by posting mindless discussions or comments is way too much. these people think that by having high ranking means to be able to earn big bucks, thus by flooding the discussions will get the fast rising in the ranking. by doing so, some of the discussions that are posted by serious myLot users are being pushed down to the bottom and will never be replied by others. i personally do have a few postings that i have started that aren't replied by anyone till now and this is because of the tons of mindless postings. thus i welcome the few policies that are just introduced by myLot and hope that these policies will mean more interesting discussions.

I agree with you! When times are slow, and I don't have a lot of activity on my forums, I venture out and check out what is going on in "Recent Discussion" or "Discussions I have Responded to." I get tired at looking through recents to have so many worthless threads started, such as do you drive? or do you like my picture? I am wanting a good diverse amount of opinion and dabatable topics to keep me busy. What else gets me are the people that start a great topic and do not leave you a comment to keep the thread going! 30 people may have left responses and not a single one has been acknowledged. I always try my best to be very descriptive, and leave the door open for more feedback or questions to be asked from the original writer. I get back to all my responses if they are worth it. Another thing I can't stand is if there is an opportunity to keep it going, but the writer bluntly ends it with a "thank you for your response."

I agree. There are to many users that just write a discussion and then leave it to die basically. A discussion has to have more than a string of one sided comments. It is the authors responsibility to take time to foster growth of the conversation. If we don't respond to what others have said in reply to our discussions what make users think that they will come back for the next one. By the way "thank you for your response" LOL

My thinking and your thinking are similar. Mylot is a wonderful website, wherein we can have thought provoking discussuions. By involving ourselves actively,we will not only enhance our knowledge but spread friendship of various global people. Is it not a wonderful thing? If we read more and more meaningful discussions, we will come to know, where we are lagging behind and try to overcome it. Our continuous participation either in responding to discussions or raising the discussions certainly will have tremendous improvement. Most important aspect that upset me is poor response and unconnected response. This type of tendency among the members should be stopped immediately. I hope such undesirable activity will have its end soon.

Amazing!!!! You have hit the subject right on the head. I wish that there where more users who have not only your clarity of thought but meaning behind the response. Again I say, "Amazing".

I have yet to have that happen to me, but I have to admit that would upset me too. Did you know that you can report people who do that?

As you can see I'm new here. But for me the thing that bothers me the most is also the meaningless discussions. I know I don't have to participate in them but I have to wade through them to try to find something to discuss. I haven't started any discussions because I'm still learning how things work. I do look for discussions I think I might have something of value to add to. I'm trying to learn more about the tags so I know how to use them in a helpful way. I'm also trying to learn how to make friends here so I can find real discussions to contribute to. If anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate them. I do go back and check discussions I've participated in. Thank you and others for the topics that help new user learn.

your welcome. But the best way to learn is to start discussing things in depth on all posts that you make. If you do this more people will discuss with you. There is no reason not to take the time to fill something out with meaning behind it, just keep doing what you're doing. Poeple like to see reponse that have more than a few woeds and have meaning.

I will have to say that the "pointless" discussions are basically here to see how many responses they can get...you all should know that...they can also be used to your advantage..never mind how stupid they are..for every 10 stupid discussions, there are at least 5 smart ones..you just have to know where to look..the people that piss me off are the people who respond to topics with one word or they don't know anything about what youre saying..but they are just there to get the credit..but instead of complaining, I just deny their friend requests and keep it moving..there will be an idiot to come in here and say something pointless or just plain stupid, but folks, there is nothing you can do about it...

on the contrary; there is something that you can do about it. but doing that is a waste of time to me. I agree with you about idiots that repsond to a conversation when they no nothing about the topic. Unfortunatley there are alot of topics out there that many people know nothing about and yet respond.

Well, Yes, it still happens on here but not as much as it used to. I have seen a lot of cleaning up of this site over the time I have been a member here. Sometimes there are people on here who just do not want to be Open and talk about real life and human interests, and just want to post to post in hopes of making some extra $$.

I know what you mean! I think the problem can be laid at the door of poeple who just fill space with crap. If we didn't have to sort through so much junk then it might be easier to find those good topics of yours and anyone else's for that matter.

I hope I am not sparking any flames here but to be honest, it really gets to me when heavily religious topics are discussed.

I agree with the previous post, if you don't like the heavily religious discussions then stay away from them. But to take the other side those discussions are some of the best ones on here as far as discussions go. You didn't spark any flames here.

Umh.... I only reply topic if I like it If I feel it just copy paste and took other people comment, I'll rate it negative. I'll try answer best to every discusion that I read. I can't judge people only by read 1-2 posting. So I almost never report post except I see it really spaming and out of topic

One thing that really upsets me is when a user respond to a discussion with "I don't Know", "I don't have blah blah". Those are lame responses. If you don't know anything about the discussion, then why respond to a discussion, except if you're asking?

I'm upset about all the stupid topics that could've been made by spam bots and yet they were probably made by real people. How freaking mindless can you be when you sit in front of the computer and post thousands of 1 liner junk posts over and over, copy-pasting lines from sites that don't mean anything to anyone and have no real purpose? If those posts weren't made by bots, I think that some people here might be going out of their minds. Or they're complete drones with no conscience. And for what? To make a couple of dollars? I think the money incentive is nice, but I joined because I was looking for an active forum to browse and post to. Someone complained about this earlier and mentioned that there should be an ignore feature. I agree, that way you could filter all the dumb bots.

I like myLot users, but some of them just act weird and not in the right way. For example, you write a discussion and one user does not agree. What some of them do is they answer back with offense. But you do not need to answer someone this way, users could give their opinions towards discussions, but not offend other users because they didn't like what they wrote. I respect all users here and respect what they write about and I would accpect that in return.

Some of the things that upset me are users that copy and paste discussions that we have made up or comments that we have made. They are not being original and steaiing from us basically. Some people do not follow the rules though they have been repeated over and over again. I also do not like the really short answers. myLot is working hard to correct this and limit the amount of worthless chatter.

i understand what you are saying..i used to be so frustrated too...but now, i chose to close one eye and just enjoy myself responding to discussions. but then it still annoy me when there are members who dont respond to discussions, yet they start like 20 discussions a day...you can practically see the pages after pages full of their discussions in the discussion with 0 response. i mean, hello? dont start a discussion for the start of starting one!!! when i have friends like that, believe me, i will have no hesitation to delete them off!i dont want to get frustrated everytime im online.

I agree but mylot is still new and they are really trying to implement and change things so that it will eventually be more like what you want. You can help by turning in nonsense posters and not responding to nonsense discussions. The same things upset me too

except here, there is a financial incentive to engage in mindless banter. Hey I'll admit it, the only reason I am online right now is to up my post count. That being said, I'll do my best to respond as intelligently as possible.

I can't stand the useless topics, either. I'm here for intense discussion as well, and I try to post topics that provide that. I don't post discussions that are just poll type questions or anything like that. And I don't reply to those, either. I stick with discussions that I have something to say about, whether they be serious philosophical debates or conversations about my interests. Mylot is still new, so as time proceeds I'm sure there will be less and less of these pointless discussions.

Coke or pepsi lengnth of baths how many shoes I dont bother now. And discussions that start of with a good discussion that gets full of dribble forget it now. I prefer good discussions and thoughts on a wide subjects but some I have to just roll my eyes on. Oh well some people will be surprised if they discussions get deleted one day. Good to see I am not the only one

Yes, you get paid for your contribution to the site as long as you have a paypal account. But there are minimum limits that you have to meet to get paid. As to everyone being on here for money that might be true but you can't prove that all of us are. There very well maybe someone on here that is just wanting to discuss things with complete strangers for no reason at all.
