How often do you get a copy of your credit report?

Do you check your credit report yearly or at all? I get mine once a year and feel it is very important, especially now with identity theft on the rise and other crimes. We should make sure our file is accurate so it doesn't affect our ability to get credit, a new car or a new home or anything else. A father and son with the same name often get their credit records mixed up. Do you agree that checking your report is important?

i wish we had that system here in india, but we dont, even though some credit card companies do maintain a centralised credit report. but i do know the importance of credit report to a US citizen as my work is closely related to that, and as far as i can tell it is very important to keep a track of where you stand.

I agree with you, it is important to keep that credit clean at all times. It has been awhile since I've checked mine. I think we should check ours at least once a year.

You are right, it is important to check it because many companies base their decisions on that--yea sometimes there are mix-ups with people with the same name and sometimes accounts can appear on your report that you didn't open (ID theft).
I get it every year from all three bureaus :)
