Ok, I just graduated from college with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. I also have an Associate's degree in Computer Information Systems. I have 8 years experience as an administrative assistant. The company I worked for closed down back in March. I graduated college at the beginning of December. I've sent out tons of cover letters, resumes, and applications and haven't heard from any of them! I'm beginning to get frustrated with the whole job search. Maybe my standards are too high or something. But I've even applied to positions to which I know that I'm over qualified. Nothing seems to work. I have bills to pay, but no money coming in. All these jobs want "experience", well, how am I supposed to get experience if no one will hire me to begin with?????!

Hey what a coincidence! About 35 years ago I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. My first job was what I consider a great first job. I'd even do it again.
Try a tour in one of the armed services as an officer. You will get more experience and responsibility at a young age than you thought was possible.
As you get older you look back at your life and evaluate what you have done right and wrong. What was smart and what was stupid.
Serving a tour as an officer was both right and smart for me.
If nothing else it will give you a great resume enhancer and you will have enough experience that you will never again ask at someplace like MyLot for advice.

My suggestion is that you look at your state laws regarding emergency substitue teachers. They are usually in demand, and with your transcript it is often a matter of paying a fee and getting on a list. That will give you some income, let you try on the education environment, and get your foot in the door if you want it. In my state it costs $75.00 to get the emergency sub. certificate. They only require 64-70 hours. Most schools pay about $80-$90 per day. No, I do not have this job, but I could. Is it easy, not neccessarily. Is it rewarding? It could be. Good luck.

It might be the case with the company that want to hire you searching for experience(more) or the education part.
Try some other site.

I also have the same problem, I have completed double postgraduation and also have some experience then also I am not getting any job.I have come to a conclusion that for every thing to happen there is some time, and nothing happens before or after that time.So cleaverniss is to wait for the good time to come and try and try for thing you want.

Change your resume and cover letter, if you have not got any responses. It is ovious that the one your using isn't working, you need one that will get you the interview. Make sure your using a plain font, at least 10pt. If you are putting a salary requirement in the cover letter, lower the salary and put in a larger range like 21,000-38,000 just an estimate. Check the salary for the position in your area.

I have found that many employers like people that are already employed. Take a job, any job, any income and go from there. Also it is helpful to find a recruiter in your field. They can also push for you and find jobs that are not available online. Good luck and don't give up. It will just make you stronger.

What exactly is the type of job you want ??? Are you sticking out for something that needs your qualifications???
Or would you be prepared to take even an unskilled postition, so you may gain some worldly experience and maybe have some cash in your pocket ???
Or do you prefer to chill out each day at home !!!

I have a friend that is going through this right now. Just be patient and your opportunity will come.
At the same time, it's Christmas and you may not be looking at interviews until the new year.
Keep sending them out and something will happen.
Good luck. Make sure you let us know when you get one.

Sometimes I find people on their resumes make their self look plain. That paper should sell you in such a way they would be better to have you and they are worse off without you. Like your job skills list everything you think that you done they are looking for first the the other skills you did second. I sometimes make a different resume for every job im looking in too. So i can list my skills to better suite that job.
