Computer illiterate?

That's me alright. I used to spend alot of time on the computer and learn a great deal but that seemed like ages ago. Now with all this spyware and virus programs I get lost. I am having trouble with my yahoo account can anyone help? The problem started several days ago, I log into my account check my mail and when I open an email if it opens in another window I can't close it without it kicking me off completely and shuting down my browser. It doesn't matter how many windows I have open it will give me an error window and close everything. Anyone know what is causing this and how I can correct it? I have ran a scan check and that didn't help. I have reported it and have gotten no response. I even sent an email to yahoo asking for help but as of yet no response. I would appreciate anyone who knows more about computers than I do tell me how to stop the insanity? Thanks!
